Well that sure was a shocker...

In my list of who I thought the bad performers were she was there, towards the bottom, but I did not think America would vote the least for our little Alexis Grace. I for sure thought Michael Sarver was going, and I think he did too. Good old Seacrest giving us our drama for the night.
I want to bring up a point however when it comes down to this save. If the contestants had a horrible song, arrangement, off week, shouldn't they sing a song they rocked? Why would the judges and us have to hear the bad performance again? Nothing will really change it, you know? My opinion is that they should get to choose a song they have performed that showcased their talents. Sing that for their save.... hmmm

Carrie Underwood has the most incredible voice... she really is a born performer. And she's gorgeous. I did not like that thing in her hair however. It looked like a giant tarantula.

Next week is Motown.... I am looking forward to next Wednesday!

So with this Alexis gone,, here is my new top 10 (since she was pretty high in my initial rankings 2 weeks ago

  1. Adam Lambert
  2. Matt Giraud
  3. Danny Gokey
  4. Alison Iraheta
  5. Kris Allen
  6. Megan Corkrey
  7. Anoop Desai
  8. Lil Rounds
  9. Scott McIntyre
  10. Michael Sarver

Top 11

I just am having a hard time waiting a whole 6 days after our Wednesday shows,,, I have a lot of anticipation and anxiety for my next AI fix.. ! (yes I have problems)

The grand ole opry week sure was interesting. It seems that most people year after year struggle with the country week. However, this season I didn't have too many 'bad' moments during these songs. The competitive level of these contestants is so high, and it's sad that people have to be booted off, but that's the reality of the show. As I look at my list of 11 left, there are definite front runners, and those who I KNOW will not win.

Let's review.

The guest mentor was Randy Travis, not a huge fan, not even a fan. His songs are ai-ight, but he seems kinda blah and boring to me. I thought his reaction to Adam Lambert was hilarious. "I didn't quite know what to think of him", and "not too many men wear nail polish around these parts."

1. Good old Danny Gokey. I knew he would sing this song after they said he was singing a Carrie Underwood song. The chorus obviously was great, but I, like Randy and Kara, did not feel he held the verses. He's still got a huge fan base and great soul to his voice.
2. Matt Giraud was praised, praised, and praised. I liked it. I loved the ending stanza with the lights turning up and the fuller sounding backup singers and felt he sang with passion. He sang another Carrie Underwood song. As I have previously stated, he'll make it very far in this competition, especially with comparisions to JT and Michael Buble.

3. Kris Allen is a little cutey. Have I mentioned the Mraz-y type image? This was a tender song, "To make you feel my love", it's one of my favorite Garth Brooks songs. The judges think he cemented himself into this competition. I agreed.

4. We all know by now, that Anoop is back. Thanks the high heavens. Last week was borderline ridiculous with his Beat it rendition. This week he sang a good old country classic "You were always on my mind", Willie Nelson. He has an outstanding voice. He needs to use it, pick wise song choices, and I predict he'll be around again. He is very vulnerable however as we saw last week.
5. Beautiful Megan Corkrey. I just think she's gorgeous. She's so different. Do her vocals blow me away, absolutely not. But I like her in this competition. She sang, "I go walking, after midnight", and what a perfect song choice for her little ditty. Apparently she has the flu. She coughed immediately after her song. She's staying.
6. This was Alexis Grace's worst performance thus far. Not bad, but not up to par on what we have seen. She may be in trouble after tonight. Will she have enough fans to hold her on? She sang "Jolene" by Dolly Parton. Brooke White sang this song last year too. I liked Brooke's better.
7. Alison Iraheta has a killer voice ya'll. But, was it too much for this country song. I think so. I believe the rasp needed to be toned down a bit, for me. She still amazes me that she is 16 people! She sang "Blame it on my heart" - Patti Loveless. It was ok. It actually doesn't stand out in my memory.
8. HOLY COW ADAM! Was this unreal? As I was watching this ballsy performance unfold, "Ring of Fire" - Johnny Cash... I could just imagine all the 'way conservative folk' out there covering up their faces and running to the bathroom! You know who you are..... This was SOOO incredibly daring and bold and adventurous and artistic and smart and sick and I was,,, did I mention, thrilled with this song choice?? He made it his own, he is an artist, he is miles ahead of everyone and for those saying don't touch the sacred Johnny Cash,,,, I may mention that Johnny Cash's last album before his death was a cover of a Nine Inch Nails song - Hurt. Youtube it. Adam is beyond unique and I haven't even begun on his voice last night. The more you listen to it, (I watched it 6 times last night) the more you are impressed that he has never once sung off key, has never once had a glitch in his vocal ability. Did I mention I love him? Yes he is theatrical, but that is what makes a great "Star". Imagine his videos, his concerts...
9. Oh Michael Sarver. At this point in the competition I think you may be on the bottom. He sang a favorite of mine "Ain't goin' down til the sun comes up" by Garth Brooks which is not a singing song. It's a fun song, it gets the crowd going, but only when Garth sings it. Michael may have won some country fans over, but like the judges said, he did not sing it well.
10. Scott McIntyre has his niche and he will have a hard time drifting from it. Both weeks to me were the same type of song. The judges and I both think he needs to step it up vocally, step it up with the arrangements of the songs, and then he'll be in for a few weeks more. His time is definitely coming soon. I hope he makes it for the summer tour. I think he deserves it and what a great inspiration he will be to others. Martina McBride's "Wild Angels" was his song, but he mentioned that he keeps losing the hat pick. That's too bad. His hair looked better tonight.
11. Lil Rounds is a big freaking huh?? Why do the judges want her in? Why do they keep telling me she is good and soulful when she is just like everyone else? I believe she has a great powerful voice, but it is nothing new. How many R&B women can there be? I loved how Simon called her Little, and then after being corrected by the others, continued with "but Lil is short for Little".... he cracks me up. She sang "Independence Day" - by Martina McBride,, a great song, slow verses, then the great chorus. Kristy Lee Cook and Carrie Underwood have both sung this. They did better. Obviously. She should have taken a country song and made it R&B I thought.
My personal rankings of Tonight's Performances
  1. Adam Lambert
  2. Matt Giraud
  3. Anoop Desai
  4. Kris Allen
  5. Danny Gokey
  6. Alison Iraheta
  7. Megan Corkrey
  8. Scott McIntyre
  9. Alexis Grace
  10. Michael Sarver
  11. Lil Rounds
Who will be tonight's bottom 3 based on America's vote?
1. Megan Corkrey
2. Scott McIntyre
3. Michael Sarver

and Michael is going home. Geez, this is a hard one to decide..... I hope I got some of those right. I always get wary writing this down. My predictions could be all over the place, I don't know how America is voting... Carrie Underwood set to perform however....

Yes!! This is what this blog is about. We've got opposition folks!

We've got a few Adam haters out there in the blogging world, but now we really have one hatin' on his teeth. Wouldn't you rather have nice teeth then jacked up teeth? I understand your point about the 'drama boy dressed up', but apparently this is the way he dresses all the time... i've seen some other pics, and this is the toned down version of him! Also, Welcome to a new commenter, Jas's friend as well! Keep 'em coming folks, it's what makes this blog more fun and I'm going to say 'funner' too for all of you haters out there who hate my grammar. :)

OK.

The results show.
The big twist should make it interesting this year. The judges have to unanimously decide on a bottom three contestant who they want to save, they can only use it once, and it cannot be after there are 5 contestants left. Then the following week after the save, 2 will be eliminated. What if America gets it right this season, and we never even have to use the new 'Twist'? Who knows, maybe the telephone results are phony and they are saving the drama for week 5 when all of the sudden Danny or Adam is in the bottom 3... that would lead to great television and drama now wouldn't it?? Makes you wonder,,,,, hmmmm.

With that being said, the two who left the Idol stage this week were Jasmine Murray and Jorge Nunez. Jasmine was a wild card and a stupid choice in my opinion. Jorge's departure was a little surprising to me because I thought that Puerto Rico's entire population would be voting for 2 hours straight making his stay extend a little longer. Now an interesting point that I read somewhere is that Ryan didn't announce that the people on stage were the bottom vote getters. So who knows, maybe Anoop and Megan were not in the bottom votes after all. So my predictions were off a little. Dang. I did get Jasmine though.

Next week is the Grand Ol' Opry week - singing songs that have been performed on the famous Nashville stage. So I've read that Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis will be the stars who will perform on the results show as well. I cannot wait to see how these folks handle country, I don't think there are any country singers in our group of 11,,, are there?? See ya next Tuesday!

What a fun show! First of all, love Michael Jackson, so it was a good night for me. The stage looks awesome this year, love the special affects screens behind the singers, and the cool little television screen thing right in front of the judges table. Seacrest announced that tomorrow they will be eliminating two people instead of one, that's interesting.

Let's Discuss...

1. Scott McIntyre - I don't like his hair... (is that rude of me?) I thought he did alright, a little shaky in some spots, but he'll be dropped in about 3-4 weeks I predict.

2. Michael Sarver sang "You are not alone" and it's a good thing, because it was slow and even and simple. I don't like the way he is singing lately. He might be in the bottom 3.
3. Megan Corkrey is just all and all creative and unique. She is definitely somebody that we have not seen on that stage before. She is sticking to who she is and it's great. She is a beautiful girl. She sang 'rockin' robin' - a Jackson 5 hit. It sounded alright. Simon didn't like it for some reason, I thought it was fun. She'll stick around.

4. Matt Giraud definitely showed us why he belongs in this competition. He is a great piano player and he is reminiscent of a Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke kind of performer. I thought his falsetto was great at the end.

5. Lil Rounds to me is not all that. I don't think she is anything different or new, and I don't know why the judges are praising her so much. What a horrible horrible outfit choice. Those pants were awful. She sang the way you make me feel, and slowed it down a bit. I'm just not buying into this hype.
6. Kris Allen actually did his best performance that I've heard, and he switched it up by playing the guitar. It was an interesting arrangement, and I thought there was something going on with the sound or amp, the guitar wasn't loud enough or something. He is a cutey guy, but kinda generic in my view.

7. Jorge Nunez did not do as bad as the judges thought. I'm sure the song choice could have been better, but he still can sing. He might be in the bottom this go around.

8. Jasmine Murray still has not wowed me. Again, very pageantry and showy and not real to me. It's all a boxed version or something. No personality maybe..... to proper?? I just don't think she'll make it far.

9. Danny Gokey is just a good guy. I liked his performance a lot. We all know that he is a front runner and will make it far.

10. Anoop, Anoop,, why did you sing Beat it. I was hoping no one would touch Beat it or Thriller,, because those are just impossible to sing or perform, because it will just look karaoke or goofy. You know? So, he tried it, and he didn't nail it. He may be in the bottom.

11. Alison Iraheta has a very raspy voice. It's good. Very good. She's awkward in interviews, but she's 16 for crying out loud. Great potential here, but we have already had a winner with her style, Kelly Clarkson perhaps? She'll make it far.
12. Alexis Grace is a tiny package of dynamite. Her voice is crazy good and she sings with so much passion and truth. I believe her when she is singing. She ended the show and did it with a bang.
13. Adam Lambert is going to win this competition. It will come down to Adam and Danny. There, I said it. I believe at this stage those two will be in the finals. I just do not foresee either of them having a bad performance. I never get nervous when either one is about to perform. Like, I get nervous when Michael Starver gets up to sing, because I don't know what's going to come out of his mouth. (I'm such a spaz) Adam sang Black or White and did a good job. Paula sang praises galore and made him cry. (I think I teared) There really is no other perfomer like him. I only wonder how he will do if there is a low key song without all the energy.

Paula Abdul looked like a glazed donut in a morgue and she seemed to be studdering more than usual last night. She's awkward and makes me nervous. Tomorrow night we have a new Twist that everyone keeps talking about.
This was the best start to the season I've ever seen. And that's because of the new format. They pulled in the tops of all the groups so that it would be very competitive. And it is. I like most of them, so it will be difficult to decide.
Here's what I think - we'll either have a bottom 3 and the judges will choose who should go home... or we'll have a bottom 3 and they'll have to sing for their lives right there and judges decide,, or maybe each judge will have a choice who they want to save. Something along those lines.
Tonight's bottom 3 are Michael Starver, Anoop Desai, and Jasmine Murray. Tonight's performers are Kelly Clarkson and Kanye West. Should be exciting. Also today Taylor Hicks and Elliot Yamin released albums/songs for download. A busy week.

I freaking rule the Wild Card

Did I nail it,,, or did I nail it? Enough said. I guessed who they were putting through to the top --- eh'em ,,,,13, and although I think I'm amazing, I'm sure a lot of others out there picked the same ones too....

Welcome welcome to Jasmine, Megan, Anoop, and Matt

Here's my main annoyance with tonight's episode. They soooooooo knew that Tatianna was not going to get picked. The judges already knew which 4 they wanted, and no matter what they say about it, it was so blatantly obvious. There were no last second changes, that's all crap. They knew they wanted those 4 the entire time. These 4 are the ones they spent more time on, focused more on their back stories, etc. The top 13 were chosen from last Fall during the audtions, and that's just how it is. So why did they throw in Tatianna?? For the drama, for the ratings, and to give America something to talk about around the watercooler the next day....

Does anyone else feel used and cheapened by being subjected to the producer's every whim and desire? They're even starting to throw in unseen auditions in between commercials now. What's this all about it? They're tricking America into paying attention to the Adver-tis-ments...(I like saying that in a Brittish accent) so make sure you all go out and buy a Ford and drink Diet Coke.

I thought all the contestants did hands down, miles above their last performances. I still am not sure about Jasmine though. I think they are banking on her 'commercial' appeal. I think Jesse's voice is more unusual and more sultry than Jasmine's. Dang.

As for the boys, Von and Ricky Braddy both have great voices,, but like I've said before, there's only 1 winner.... Let us begin that whole process now. We've finally got 'em. Our 13. Can't wait for Tuesday so we can hear the ones from our Idol past,, Danny Gokey anyone?

The final 3 of the last group

Well well, alrighty then.

How obvious are these results shows this year? It's aggravating and annoying. We all knew who would win, there was no suspense... grr.. That's the problem with this new format. The top places are in my opinion always very obvious. We always used wait to see who got booted, that was where the drama was. To see who had the guts and votes to keep hanging on....

Like a few years back, it was always Sanjaya that was here week after week, and then last season it was Kristy Lee Cook... This season up until now, has just been so predictable. So, next week when we have the 12, it will finally be back to one elimination per week. Thank goodness. This way we can start to remember who we liked. Think - Danny Gokey hasn't performed in over two weeks, have we forgotten how he sounds, how he performs?? So now going into the top 12, the last performers will have the momentum from America's viewers.

So, I guess I was right. Jorge, Scott, and Lil.. yeah for me.

The only fun part last night was the Wild Card picks. Now, let's get to it.

We've got
  1. Von Smith
  2. Megan Corkrey
  3. Jasmine Murray
  4. Anoop Desai
  5. Jesse Langseth
  6. Tatianna What?
  7. Ricky Braddy
  8. Matt Giraud
Here's my problems with this group. Jasmine Murray does not have a better voice than Kristen McNamara who was eliminated last night. I really feel like the judges dumped on Kristen. I loved her voice and saw incredible potential there. Tatianna was not better than some of the other girls up there either. I would have preferred someone over her 100 times, but of course the dang producers wanted some 'show' and they sure got it. People in the audience were laughing out loud at her crazy drama antics. She just cried and said to Ryan, "I love you, I love everyone in the whole world." She's honestly nuts people. Like, crazy manic schizoaffective dissorder,, crazy.

P.S. I don't think they should have had the judges pick the wild cards. I think to make it fair, because we've already voted, to have the wild card round be this ----

The next 3 highest vote getters from each group of 12, making it 9 in the wild card round. Then we vote again..... but alas, I'm not a producer

So on TONIGHT. I think that tonight's winners will be.... (and I've heard rumors on the web, they may switch it up to 4 winners)
  1. Megan
  2. Anoop
  3. Matt Giraud
  4. If it's a fourth - Jasmine
These are my predictions based on how much the judges have pushed these people on us. Obviously not on their performances which we will see tonight.

I think Kristen McNamara, Juno't Joyner, Felicia Barton, Mishavonna Henson, were robbed too. I really enjoyed their voices. It's too bad we all can't be American Idols now isn't it... boo hoo... :)

The Last group of 12

Well, it was an interesting night I must say. The producers obviously saved the best for last, as goes with the theme of the previous two weeks. With a name like Lil Rounds, she's definitely not forgettable. She wailed that Mary J. Blige song, and I'm excited to get a little bit of soul and R&B into the competition. I've been reading other blogs, other 'experts' opionions on the show this year. There's been a lot of talk that the majority of voters are, well,,, white teenage girls, therefore we have a lot of white people in the finals. This being said, it might have a lot to do with the new format. Only the best 3 from the 12 go each week making it difficult for America to start becoming fans of the contestants week and after week,,,

1. Von Smith reminds me of the infamous picture on National Enquirer of "Bat Boy". When he sings his mouth does some crazy thing and his eyes go wide. I just don't like watching him. He did tone down his crazy onstage presence thank goodness.

2. Taylor Vaifanua disappointed me. I so wanted her to do well. They really made her look beautiful last night. She just didn't sing that great of a song, or something. I think she even had sung that same song in Hollywood week. Why? Why would you pick the same song. oh well. She won't make it. Too bad, she still is so young though.
3. Scott McIntyre was sure pushed by the judges. They want him in the top 12. It's funny watching the show year after year, and getting spoonfed by the judges who should make it and who should not. I liked Scott, I love the song he sang by Bruce Hornsby, Mandoline Rain. He's just a good guy you know?

I was actually starting to get annoyed with the judges last night when they kept telling people to change their image, or figure out who they are, or wear something different....

Dang, this is about their voice, not their outfits. They don't even know what the whole business is about, they've been in it for about a month. You can't expect them to be all magazine and Access Hollywood'ed up already? and I was glad when Kristen McNamara, after getting dumped on about her dress, said, "I guess I should hire a stylist," I was sorta annoyed by this whole discussion.

4. Oh Nathaniel, Nathaniel..... What in the world are you doing here?? The song, the 'gay' dance moves, the headband, the piercings, the shirt that's too tight around your middle. It's just too much. Meatloaf?? Really?? Bye Bye.

5. Lil Rounds is the power house, with the power booty to go with it. She's got soul, she's got my vote.

6. Kristen McNamara is a great singer. I really liked her voice and the song. I thought they were too hard on her.

7. Kendall Beard needs to be named Barbie Beard. Because that is what she is. She is genuinely a very cute girl, but the chops ain't there. She went flat a bunch. She was fun to watch out there in that bright yellow dress.

8. Jun'ot Joyner sang the same song as Hollywood week too, but they didn't get as annoyed with his decision to do so as they were Taylor's, duh. It was alright. I want to hear him really open it up. I don't think he'll make it.

9. Jorge Nunez was really good too. He cried on stage, and I will admit, I cried a little too. I don't know what it is about this cheesy show. I tear up easily when other's are having emotional moments, it's a problem I inherited from my parents. Anywhoo... I liked him.

10. Felicia Barton I think. She sang an Alicia Keys number and I thought, wow, she's got a great voice. She is the one that replaced that other chic who they dumped. I liked her, but I don't think she'll make it, not enough screen time on her this season.

11. Arianna Afsar is a cute thing. A teenager. A very serious song. A not too good number. A very gloomy number. Adios.

12. Alex Wagner so and so was awkward, dorky, and kinda entertaining. I liked his dry sense of humor, but he does not belong on this stage. He's a crackup.

My prediction for tonight.

Lil Rounds

Scott McIntyre

Jorge Nunez
