New York and Puerto Rico

I must say I was not impressed by anyone in these cities. I can't even recall what happened. It's probably because I had a little American Idol watching party over at my house tonight and my kids were crying throughout, but it just did not give me anyone to 'jump up and kick my heals up' about.

I did like the singer at the beginning who quit her job to become an idol. What? She was horrible. Then there was the cutey pie from Puerto Rico who sang a great little Spanish number. He kinda had that Marc Anthony vibe about his voice, but way better looking. Then there were the normal spazoids who annoy me, so I sorta just tune them out. There was a rocker chic with horrible clothes, especially the shoes,, gag. Her first song was pretty weird, goodish, badish... but her second song was much better. She seems pretty serious about her music since she's been doing it forever, so we may have to put an eye on her since they sent her through.

So here's a question. They get a really cooky guy with a headband on and stuff. I'm thinking he's going to be a joke, and he sorta is, but then he starts singing good, and then he's goofy again. He sang two times...And they put him through.... how bizarre is that. I don't understand the judges sometimes, maybe they are told what to do by the producers? Either way, he's going to Hollywood but we all know that for sure he ain't making it past the first day. Then we had that rocker chic from last season who was a psycho, (had a great camera moment where she flips the camera off and says 'take it, take it, take it' and Simon can kiss my butt as she bends over) and said she is going to do 'actressing' now instead.... she's back for her additional 5 minutes of fame and sings Madonna. So , So, bad. Of course it's a no. (ratings ratings) I really hate these first two weeks.

They jammed so many auditions in today we didn't really see much judging. Kara has not expressed herself much the last couple of times. We'll see how she really does when it's Live and right after a performance. So onto Hollywood next week. This is the main pressure cooker, where we separate the beast from the lamb. Let's do it kids.....

Salt Lake City, Utah

Hooty hoot what????

A big 'ol shout out to my home town,,, (yeeaaaahhhh,,, boooooooyyyyy) - spoken like Flava Flav.

I am proud to say that the SLC is representin' yo. Look at them shine, look at them being all happy, in fact,,,,, 'shiny happy people holding hands' sung by R.E.M. is playing of course. How lame, yes the people of SL are happy I suppose, and we all go around say 'golly gee whitakers Mr. Johnson!' And to make the whole stereotype even better, let's throw in an Osmond or 50 to boost the ratings right at the bat.

I must say I like the Osmonds, grew up listening to the Christmas Album and watching my bro. and sis. do a little show like Donny and Marie's. Here's to me and me not knowing that this son of Allen has M.S. How horrible! I can't believe he has even been in a wheelchair. He sang pretty well, great confidence of course, looks like a pro. Could this be his shot at fame? Rumor has it he is in the top 50 or something. Having the name Osmond on the show definitely can't hurt the ratings. I'm sure he'll do great.

The chic with the tattoos. Now this should be interesting. She's from my actual hometown, Sandy, so shout out there, and she has a very unusual style. Simon really liked her and how she was unique and knew who she was. Can't remember her name but it was a weird last name. I bet she'll go far because the judges like to have a wide variety in the top 12. The polynesian girl from Hurricane,, pronounced Hur-i-cun, was pretty good too. What the? There's no way she's 16, check the birth certificate, she looked 35 to me. Very pretty voice.

The Class President of Riverton is just your all American boy with spiky hair. If he makes it in the top crew he'll be needing some help with the image. But, he did have an interesting voice and strong confidence. Lastly, I will discuss the blonde hippie child. She's been through a lot with the death of both her parents, she's very cute, and she has an interesting style. Not the best vocals, but something is interesting about her. I never thought Brooke White from last year had the bestest vocals either, but there was some serious soul to her. So we shall see how the troops hold up in Hollywood when the real pressure starts cooking the amateurs. Tomorrow is New York and another city - can't remember now, so chat with you all tomorrow.

And in closing, please remember the famous quote by the sports broadcaster in his opinions of Utah's loud and crazy Jazz fans........"Let's be honest. They're Mormon. And they're in Salt Lake. And there's nothing else there," he said. "You've got to smile and be happy all the time. This might be one opportunity for fans to get vicious."

I love it!

Jacksonville, Florida

Alrighty, let's get started!

First of all, these auditions are the worst part of Idol for me. I think it's all staged and ridiculous how they go through a huge screening of 12,000 people and still send the wacky ones through. It's just for stupid television and entertainment purposes. However, I would be much more entertained if they did away with the ones who knew they were bad, the ones who are 'acting' all hurt, and the ones dressed in stupid outfits and just focused on the talent. We've all been watching for years and know there are bad singers and wannabe's and 'I want my 5 minutes' type people out there. I have noticed they have cut back on those nut jobs this season. Thank Goodness. Although, I do get a good laugh out of the ones who are just drastically off key and don't know it.

So for Florida there were no standouts for me. No one screaming American Idol. I did think the girl who went and changed her clothes and put makeup on was pretty good, singing Bubbly. And maybe a few others. I think the judge Kara has an awful wardrobe. What has she been wearing? These tops look like my kid took some scissors to them.

For tomorrow we have Salt Lake City, home of David Archuletta, and the teaser showed an Osmond trying out. This should be interesting. Chat with you all tomorrow.

And so it begins,

I am introducing a new blog to the world. That's right, the American Idol forum has begun. Fasten your seat belts and get ready for a completely honest perspective of America's #1 show. The judges, the music, the contestants will all go through my scrutiny. I have been watching idol religiously for the last 5 years and although I may not know all the details and trivia of everyone's lives that have ever been on the show, or who they're dating, etc. , I do know me a good performance when I hear and see it. So I invite all comments - be brave, lay it all out there, let's DISCUSS!
