Top 3

Thank goodness this season has 3 more episodes left!!! I hate to admit it, but I honestly could care less who wins. It just doesn't matter and it's because this season has been so boring!!! Next season will be a lot different so hopefully it will grab my enthusiasm. Well last night we had contestant choice and judges choice. Let's discuss:

  • Casey James sang something I had never heard,,, so you know that's not a good sign when you are supposed to be wowing the audience with something spectacular, and you're hearing it for the first time. He did not bring it. Second song was Daughter's,, John Mayer,, and I didn't even like this one. Casey James, you disappoint me. But maybe once he's off this crazy ship of AI, he'll write his own stuff and be who he is...
  • Crystal Bowersox sang Come to my Window,, and did well I thought. Then her second was Maybe I'm amazed by Paul McCartney.. Anyone else think it strange she didn't change the words... She must have sung, Maybe I'm a man.. a dozen times. She could have sang, Maybe I'm the one..oh well. She was hitting some pretty high notes for her during this one.
  • Lee Dewyze I think is gonna take it. He really really wants it. He sang a lynrd skynrd and then hallelujah. It wasn't my favorite arrangement with the strings and the choir and such.. I prefer the more subtle approach like Jason Castro did 2 years ago. But it was still his moment and his vocals sounded great. He's got a great radio voice. I wonder what the coronation song will be this year?? I hope it involves hurricanes, mountains, desert heat, or something crazy like,,, crocodile swamps.. ! ha ha.. last year's was sooooo cheesy. There's always some natural catastrophe someone has to overcome to realize they've made it past their challenge.

Well now.. tonight is one of my fav's of the season ,, when they go home for their visits. Then I really must say,,, Lee is safe... not sure about Crystal and Casey.. Well,,,I'm sure Crystal will be safe barring some crazy riff in the universe.. peace out

The Movie Week

Well it's down to the Top 4 and Duet week. Last year they had Jamie Foxx come and mentor and he was great, so they did it again. I thought he did well, but it just seemed like a rerun of last year. Nothing new.... and as crazy as it seems, I can't wait for this season to be over... After watching such a mediocre group for so long, I'm all about starting So You Think You Can Dance 2 weeks early. Something really needs to change with the show for next year.... new judges? - obviously... new themes? -  PLEASE!...and Idols with personalities and creativity!! I'm begging.... The new judge will have to be revealed in the next month, since auditions will begin in the summer...  Let's Discuss:

  • Lee Dewyze up first singing Kiss from a Rose,,, not his type of song at all, he was a bit flat throughout the number and there was nothing going on with the stage.... I hate to keep bringing up Adam Lambert,, but he freaking knew how to make the stage entertaining....fog, lights, etc....
  • Mike Lynche then sang Michael Jackson and I thought he did a good job. Anytime you can bring a gospel choir into the mix, it'll be awesome! Judges didn't like it so much,,,but I also love that song too, I might have been swayed by that.
  • Duet of Lee and Crystal,,, taking on Fallen which is the song Kris Allen did last year that really set him apart... I thought to myself, why tackle this if it was such a big moment for the winner last year. Well, I really dug the harmonies and the guitar playing. Had to be one of the best performances of the year. They received accolades for their number,,, they might be your finalists!
  • Next up was Casey James singing Mrs. Robinson. Didn't do anything for me. It was slow, basic, and not up to par with where he should be. I am soooo sick of the whole cougar thing RANDY! Give it a break,,, the kid is most annoyed I am sure.
  • Crystal performed a Kenny Loggins classic from Caddy Shack and I dug it. She changed up the song quite a bit and really went out and rocked. Does anyone else think that the crazy 'boyfriend' guy wearing the Gosh Awful  flag balloon pants is a pseudo boyfriend?? I mean honestly, they are so not a pair I would put together. I thought the night was super slow and needed a good Crystal wake up call.
  • Casey's and Mike's duet was awesome too. I loved the guitar playing and harmonies.
I guess the duets won the night and Crystal won the solo performances. It's obvious that Crystal and Lee will be in the finals, but the person who will be in top 3 I have a feeling will be Mike. So long to Casey!

My power rankings on last night's performances:
  1. Crystal
  2. Mike
  3. Lee
  4. Casey

Jazzy Sinatra

I was really entertained last night,, and not by the contestants! I really thought Harry Conick Jr. was one of the best mentors they have ever had. And the thing that was different about the whole episode, was that he was out there on stage performing (well sort of) with them. He was leading the band, arranging the idols song choices, and crackin' jokes. In fact, I think they oughta have more mentors putting in as much work as he did.  Harry really is the triple threat with acting, singing, and his musicality.
I'm not a ginormous Sinatra fan,, I mean - I'm American right,, so I have to love the occasional oldie but goodie from old blue eyes. Let's discuss:

  • Aaron Kelly - Am I missing something?? Why do the judges keep giving him praise when he was soooooooo mediocre. He sounded nasally last night and so uncomfortable. He looks like he's about to wet his pants when he stands there with Ryan while he's getting his numbers read. I liked his look a lot better last night though with the new haircut and the whole vest/tie ensemble.  Aaron seriously needs like 5-10 years more experience to gain confidence and umph. He does not command the stage and I just don't want to watch him.
  • Casey Jones - He should have been soaring after last week's phenomenal performance, but this was just not his best. I liked how Kara said his vibrato sounded like a lamb, cause I was thinking it was sounding a little warbley too. He looked really good though. He'll be in bottom 3.
  • Crystal Bowersox looked great. Loved the dress and the hair up. I think because she has been so good week after week, the judges don't like her numbers unless they are 'something to write home about'... She didn't do bad,,, she did waaaaayyy better than Aaron and Casey, but they don't whoop her up like they used to because she isn't giving anything more. I liked her voice a lot and think that the jazz genre wouldn't be that far off with her smooth voice. She is a hippy though, so she'll be a folk/rock singer. She will not be in the bottom.
  • Mike Lynche had one of his best last night with "The way you look tonight". I thought it was real and he really does perform well. Simon said he has the best stage presence which I agree with.
  • Lee Dewyze is in this to win it, and he might just take it from Crystal. The finals will be Lee and Crystal. He smiled, he played around, he still had his rasp in the jazzed up Sinatra song.
It will be an interesting night tonight. Because really, everyone is pretty good and I am curious to see who the bottom is. My power rankings for last night's performances are:
  1. Lee
  2. Mike
  3. Crystal
  4. Casey
  5. Aaron
I really want Aaron to go home tonight! Here's hoping and praying......

The 6 sing Shania

Well I liked last night's show. It wasn't 15 hours long and the people left are all relatively talented and can sing. Shania is seriously so stinkin' beautiful,,, it's irritating actually. How can her face, skin, teeth, and hair be that perfect. Was she wearing the cutest outfit while she was mentoring them?? Loved the rolled up pants.. anyways   .. let's discuss the show:

  • First up was Lee DeWyze who I think is finally gaining more confidence up there on the stage. I liked his version a lot! He changed it up just the right amount to make it sound like it was his song. He does pull some weird faces like Simon said, but so did Kris Allen. Kris Allen was a side singer,,, well he probably still is,, ha. Um, he will be safe.
  • Old Big Mike was up next and though he did a good job, I still do not jump up and down for him. He'll be in the bottom 3 just mainly because he doesn't have as many fans as the other contestants.
  • Casey James had his moment last night. I loved just listening to him sing,, without the guitar solo's and cheesy songs. He really is a talent and I am wondering why we haven't talked more about Casey this season. I hope he's safe.
  • Crystal was up next and had the most 'alright' performance of the night. Nothing stood out to me and it was sort of like a regular old coffee house performance. She's still awesome and authentic, but it didn't get me going. I do understand that coming up with 12 performances for the season would be daunting.
  • Aaron Kelly had a good night too. He still sounds a bit nasally to me and like his mouth isn't opening up all the way, but his performance was solid.
  • Siobhan Magnus is bordering on the irritating/excruciating line for me. She was a little breathy in her performance, maybe cause she did a lap around the whole building while she was singing. Her glory notes were a bit off, but she did try with all her might.
Did anyone else think the judges were overly nice and pleasant last night? What was up with that? Maybe they got told to make the show more positive and uplifting since they have all been cranky for like a month. I don't know.
My Power rankings for last night's performances are:
  1. Casey James
  2. Lee Dewyze
  3. Mike Lynche
  4. Aaron Kelly
  5. Crystal Bowersox
  6. Siobhan Magnus
I think the bottom three will be Mike, Aaron, Siobhan with Aaron going home. This is really hard though, because he probably pulled on some heart strings saying he sung that song to his mom..... This is another difficult elimination night,,, should be interesting for sure!

Inspiring

So with 7 kiddo's left in the AI competition, it's coming down to maybe 4 that I can handle anymore. Alicia Keys said the same thing every usual mentor always says,,, "if they can just connect with the song and audience, they'll be golden",, blah blah. Obviously if people connect with the song it's better. Let's Discuss:

  • Casey James did a cheesy fleetwood mac that will always remind of of the 92 campaign cause bill Clinton always blasted this at his democratic conventions and the like,,, however with Casey James, I did not mind it. Bad choice for the show and him,,,?,, yes... But I still thought it was a good performance. I want him to kind of bob his head and tap his toes or something, he's always just standing.
  • Lee Dewyze was next and sang "The Boxer" - Paul Simon. I enjoyed this, he sang well, and he's singing with more confidence. He'll be safe.
  • Tim Urban wasn't as bad as he has been. It was just ayight for me - quoting Randy. Better Days by goo goo dolls, don't know if it fit his voice.
  • Oh sweet little Aaron Kelly,,, I have a message for you. Please do not sing power ballads sung by R&B folks in which R. Kelly most powerfully lifts his arms up as if to fly to the high heavens of all that is sleazy and perverted! I hate this song.... HATE. And what's even better,,, it was in Space Jam?!!? What?? Aaron is in bottom for sure, and if by chance he is still here, he needs to stick with country. His voice wasn't bad,,, the song just swallowed him up. I really don't like watching him sing either... he has this little sway thing that is off beat every single time. I'll give him something though, he was never off key and he hit the power note at the end.
  • Siobhan is weird. She has just gone down and down each week. And although last night's performance wasn't dreadful, it was just too much. I think she has great vocal potential, and she will probably do just fine in the real world. It takes her 10 times longer than most people to answer a question that Ryan asks of her,,, which makes me mad because my DVR cut off the last number in GLee because Idol ran 4 minutes over. Siobhan might be in the bottom 3 this week. Not going home though. I'm still praying and hoping she can regain what she used to do.
  • Mike Lynche sang a Chad Kroeger song and it just didn't work for me, because this song needs that grit and grut in the voice such as Chad's. Hero is a great song, love it. Mike played guitar accoustic, then the strings came in and lights flashed on during the chorus. I was entertained, but just didn't get the fullness of it.
  • Crystal looked great in her long evening gown cut low, performed sans instrument, and sang a capella. Three new things to switch up for this week, and they all worked. She was in tune and way connected to that song. She cried at the end and I'm sure it was difficult since she does not come off as a way emotional girly girl. She is obviously the one to beat. She's your Season 9 Idol America.....
So my power rankings are:
  1. Crystal
  2. Lee
  3. Casey
  4. Mike
  5. Siobhan
  6. Tim
  7. Aaron
I think it's Aaron's time to go. Tonight is a big night with the Idol Gives Back... I'm sure we'll have some memorable performances.

Tuesday, April 20

2 are gone!

Well I got one of them right at least... I thought Katie would still be riding high from her Let it be performance the week before... But Andrew's time did come up... Wow,,, so tonight we have the inspirational songs with  Alicia Keys mentoring. Idol Gives back is this week so there'll be some good performances from bona fide stars out there in Music Land.

Adam Lambert still blows me away. His performance last Wednesday of "whatya want from me" was soooo good. His vocals were right on and his showmanship was stellar..... I loved the lasers... ! Who does lasers anymore?? I loved it... and P-Diddy did strobe lights a few weeks before... It's like I'm going back in time to a Middle School Dance Company Concert....! Do you know what I mean? And on a side note, Kesha performed on SNL with Glow in the Dark Paint... How cheap is that? Ha Ha

I think Adam Lambert is one of the reasons we expect more out of these contestants this year. Every week he switched it up with style, staging, and musical genres.. He was so entertaining,,, we just aren't quite getting it this year. I'm looking forward to this week... And I already predict Aaron Kelly as going home.. Because I think the tween votes are getting split between Tim and Aaron ,,, and Tim is winning the contest.

Top 9 Perform,,, again!

Elvis night sure brought out some good numbers and a few stinkers. The show has improved this week and last week for me thank goodness, it was sorta starting to feel a little drab. Well what did we think of Adam Lambert,,,,,? I thought his advice was fantastic and honest. And the comment between Ryan and Adam about his tongue,,, um, ok,, that was a little too much Ryan.. You could hear Simon in the background with his brittish snooty accent,,, "Ryan,, Ryan".. on with the show.. Let's discuss:

  • Crystal Bowersox of course did awesome, she has that gospel rasp and it ain't going anywhere. She will be safe. She's just who she is and she's confident with it.
  • Andrew Garcia -  I didn't hate it as much as Randy, Kara, and Simon did. It didn't do much for me, especially singing Hound Dog,  but I thought he had fun, and he had more grrrr in his voice than he usually does. I think I prefer him with his guitar. He won't last much longer. This could be his week to leave.
  • Tim Urban just shocked the pants off this old girl. Where has this kid been for 2 months?? Last week and now this week,,, he did a great job. He didn't end  in his head voice thought like Adam suggested.. I think he should have. I think this is his niche,,, It was heartfelt, real, and I loved what he did on the guitar with "I can't help fallin' in love". This was one of my fav's of the night, and I can not believe I just wrote those words. He has more confidence I think,, maybe that's the ticket. I thought Ryan dancing with that dude in the background was very distracting and rude. He should have given the attention to Tim during his performance, Ryan sorta bugged me last night anyways. He seemed a little cocky and over-zealous...did he drink 5 too many Red Bull's before the show? Is he on some of Paula's Crazy Pills?
  • Lee DeWyze is just turning into one of my favorites,, I just wish he would perform more. This was his best vocal I thought, but like the judges and Adam said, he needs to smile, have fun, loosen up. A little less conversation was one of my fav's last night as well. I just feel like we don't who Lee is. Entertain man!
  • Oh Aaron Kelly... blue suede shoes? There is nothing current or change worthy with this song. Does anyone sing about shoes these days...? Oh yes, J - Lo singing about her louibuittons (spelling botched),, and that song TANKED! Aaron is a little out of his league I think. He tried to switch it up and be playful and light, since he had been singing ballads all the previous weeks. He has no rhythm, can't dance, and looked awkward the whole time. I was embarassed for him, and that's saying something. I think he is in some serious trouble tonight. He is a country singer and will have a nice little start to his career in a few years. He still looks like a kid, needs to go through puberty first, then tackle the industry. Just my opinion.
  • Siobhan Magus - yooo hoooo!! Where are you?? She is getting lost out there in AI land. Her lower voice is sorta sleepy and old fashioned, and then she breaks into this awesome belt voice and she is it! I just don't know how she can connect the two. She may be in trouble in the next few weeks if she can't pull out a show stopper. I like the song she sang, Suspicious Minds, just wished she would have done a more current version of it.
  • Mike Lynche sang "in the Ghetto" with his accoustic guitar, just sitting down, and he did great. He did not deserve the bottom vote last week and I'm glad they saved him. I'm not a huge fan, but he's better than a few of the others.
  • Katie Stevens brought it all out tonight. The attitude as usual is fake and teenagery, with the head jerks and side lip thing going on, but her vocals were good. She had more confidence. This may be rude, but she should not wear tank tops,,, does nothing for her arms! (I know I am mean) She sang well, but I don't know if she has enough fans.
  • Casey James sang "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" which I have never heard before. I liked his vocal and thought he pushed it a little more than he has before. I do agree with Kara however,,, he can push it even more. How would he do without the guitar? Maybe he needs to do that.... I think that would be daring and applauded. And he needs to never let his hair down again,, until it's longer.. it's just too poofy and golden. Adam suggested he needed to build up to the main part,,, a little crescendo through the song.. I don't think he did a good job listening. It was slower, softer, mellow the first stance, then all the sudden it was on.. it didn't build.
So all in all, I thought a decent night for the kids. My power rankings are:
  1. Crystal Bowersox
  2. Lee Dewyze
  3. Casey James
  4. Tim Urban
  5. Mike Lynche
  6. Katie Stevens
  7. Siobhan Magnus
  8. Andrew Garcia
  9. Aaron Kelly
Tonight Adam performs and two are going home... I'm pretty sure it's Andrew Garcia and Aaron Kelly.

Tuesday, April 13

Big Mike, Adam, and Elvis!!!

Well tonight is the night people.... Glee is back and ADAM LAMBERT is back.... I can't wait to see what he has to say to these sorry bunch of performers this season... OK,, that was a little harsh,, but honestly, was Adam Lambert not the greatest thing to hit Idol since sliced bread?? I can't believe they have never had another Idol back on the show either,,, I mean come on,, does Miley Cyrus know what it feels like to go through this process... Nope.. I'd love to see Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood back too! Can you imagine her on country week? Rumor has it that it will be Shania this year....

Well it's Elvis theme tonight and with 2 going home tomorrow, it is crucial that everyone brings their A Game..So let's talk about that save... I knew that, because of how well the underdogs did last week, a shakeup would be coming and boy was I right. I just couldn't say who was leaving which was odd. I didn't think it would be Big Mike though, I thought Aaron was leaving when it was just those 2 standing up there.

I'm kinda glad they used the save so that it is now out of the way on Results show night...I feel so bad watching those contestants singing for their life and getting the No answer,,, makes me feel depressed....

So stay tuned for my critiques on these 9 kids... and can't wait to see ADAM!!

Top 9 perform

I was pleasantly surprised last night with the idols. I felt like it might have been one of the best rounds of the season. I wasn't screaming and cringing (well most of the time) with the song arrangements or choices of the contestants. And that's a good thing Ladies and Gentleman. Let's discuss!

  1. Aaron Kelly started off the show with another slow/serious ballad. I'm getting sick of these with him,,,,he needs to seriously put on a show next week if he's still here. The Long and Winding Road I think may have been a little too much for the country crooner. Here he is, some pre-pubescent kid, who is in some serious need of a shot of youth to prove to America that he is not one dimensional. He might be in trouble this week-
  2. Katie Stevens had a really good night. She sang Let it Be which was also a great song for Season 7 alum Brooke White. And I'm thinking I may be leaning towards Simon with thinking that Katie should possibly go the country route. This may sound bad, but she just doesn't have the look, body, or personality to do the pop/r&b vibe.... think Christina/Fergie/Alicia.... you all know what I'm talking about. But if you think more along the lines of a younger Martina McBride/Taylor Swift/Shania Twain.....can you see it now? Maybe she'll really shine if they do a country week this season. This was her best performance of the season because I believed her.
  3. Andrew Garcia had a great time on stage tonight. Last week really boosted his confidence making it much more enjoyable watching and listening to him. He sang Can't Buy Me Love and changed it up just enough to make it his. I'm not sure if I loved it because I love that song or if he performed it well. It wasn't bad, just alright.
  4. Michael Lynche brought the dramatics again last night. It was a good performance of Eleanor Rigby but it wasn't my favorite. I just don't know if I like him as a performer and star. He's a great personality blah blah blah,, but do I want to see him up on stage or listen to him on the radio...? Not sure about this one yet. Some weeks yes, some weeks no.
  5. Crystal Bowersox hammered out the old Come Together on her gee-tar and did a marvelous job as usual. Some crazy instrument apparently that I've never heard of, got a lot of attention from the panel. Let me look that one up - didgeridoo?- Hmm. Not sure that thing was necessary. She also seemed to have more fun up there on the stage and get into the post song Ryan/Simon banter thing that happens every show.
  6. Holy Tim Urban Batman! Where the heck did this come from is what all of America and the judges are saying, as they scratch their heads in awe! He really did a great job of singing All My Lovin' with his electric guitar. The arrangement was right on and his vocals were right on. Oh dang it Oh man,,, now I have to say that I really liked this one. He didn't seem as uncomfortable as he has every other week this season, and it just fit. Hmmm, as much as it pains me I believe that he is safe this week. eeeek!!
  7. Casey James you are my light! I believe this was his MOMENT that cemented him into this thing. This was his BEST performance and one of my FAVORITES of the season 9!! He was so raw and connected to the song and lyrics of Jealous Guy which I have to admit I am not that familiar with. Casey James is a star people and he just proved what he can do. No more 80's cover band comparisons or wedding singer type cuts. A real artist was shown! I loved it...!
  8. Siobhan Magnus had an alright performance. It was a very difficult song to sing with the breathing, phrasing, and keeping it low key. Across the Universe was a bit sleepy to me, as Randy Jackson pointed out, but I still like her. She needs to have a stellar performance next week to bring her back into the game. I still feel Wicked Game was her best vocally.
  9. Lee Dewyze tackled Hey Jude and did a good job out there. He was interacting with the crowd, smiling, and singing it quite well. However, the bagpipes?? Really?? What was that for and was it necessary? It may be something people will talk about around the water cooler, but for me, it was a little bizarre. He's having fun out there which is a nice change.
Well that's it for the kids this week. My power rankings for the Top 9 based on last night's performance:

  • Casey James
  • Crystal Bowersox
  • Lee Dewyze
  • Katie Stevens
  • Michael Lynche
  • Tim Urban
  • Siobhan Magnus
  • Andrew Garcia
  • Aaron Kelly
This is going to be a difficult bottom 3 because there will be some newcomers to the bottom. Who will be eliminated? Man, I honestly don't know - because I feel that everyone up there has specific fans - So I am going out on a limb and saying that either Katie or Aaron will be going home. I think the save will seriously be contemplated tonight as well. We'll see.... chat tomorrow!

Results -

And Didi Benami has been asked to leave the dance. Honestly, she caved and crumbled! She is a way better artist than what she did on the show. I hope she can really tune into who she is and wants to be, cause I think she could have a chance.
Usher, Ruben, and Diddy performed.... Yes - all can go by the single name and be well known. Ruben it turns out has turned into a vegan and gotten way skinny. The song was so boring but you gotta admit that teddy bear is sure happy to be on stage. Usher was alright,,, not sure I'm liking the OMG over and over again,, Diddy I actually liked... took me back to my good old days in the late 90's..mo money mo problems is all I gotta say about that.
Well I nailed the bottom 3 again,, a thank you very much - but I think the vote for the worst campaign for Tim Urban is making him stay in the game. You know that he's not even taking the competition seriously at this point. He really doesn't want it, nor does he deserve it. We are sort of dwindling down on our really sucky people that nobody wants to see anymore... everyone left has a pretty good fan base... so I'm thinking Katie or Tim is gone this week,, and they haven't even performed yet! That's just what I'm thinking.

Stay tuned tonight for the Lennon/McCartney collection which they've already done... 2 seasons ago they spent 2 weeks on the Beatles. Chat later tomorrow!

Top 10 Perform

I thought last night's show was way better than last week, thank heavens!! Usher was a great mentor and actually gave them sound advice which I think helped a lot of the contestants.
and Where is the Danny Gokey this season? We need that fun personality and confidence from anyone...anyone?
Let's discuss:

  1. Siobhan Magnus - I still wanted her to tone it down more than she did. I want an emotionally raw performance without any yelling. For the first time I felt that she was really off key a bit, sometimes sharp. I felt bad for her as she was almost in tears at the end of the judging. I am sure this week will shake her up since she has always been praised. I liked how the cameras showed us more of the behind the scenes than we have ever seen before. It sorta showed the camaraderie (yes I had to look that up to spell it right) between the contestants.
  2. Casey James- I really like his confidence and the growl of his voice,, however, the constant smiling while singing is sorta irritating. Do you ever see Daughtry or David Cook smiling away while strumming the guitar?? No,,, ! He's gotta put some grit in his face to match the grit in his voice. Kinda get into the guitar a little bit,,, I don't know... just maybe work on really performing. I agree with Kara in that he does stay in the same range for most of his songs,,, the chorus was sorta repeat the whole time.
  3. Mike Lynche- He brought out the guitar again and sang a deep emotional song. I really liked it and generally Mike doesn't do it for me. It felt real to me and not 'cheesy' or silly. He connected to the song and had great vocal control. This was one of my favorites of the night. He felt like a true artist last night.
  4. Didi Benami- What happened to you?? She used to be one of my favorites and I just feel like she's sinking FAST. She is honestly on the verge of a nervous breakdown, and yes she is so reminiscent of Brooke White. The blonde hair, the tilted head smile when Ryan asks her a question, and the tears of emotional turmoil are just so similar. She was wearing a horrible sparkly evening gown, her hair was not happening, and I didn't feel the connection with the song. I sure hope to heck that she is able to pull it together and find better songs for next week, if she's still here.
  5. Tim Urban - Why oh Why are you here week after week?? Just GO AWAY! Stop voting for him people!! He sings with no conviction- so sick of his little eyes looking into the camera with his head tilted, the way he smiles honestly does urck me, it's so fake and put on, he will never EVER have a career in this business. I just want him GONE!
  6. Andrew Garcia- Guess who's back? Back again - Andrew's back! So, he finally lived up to the hype, 2 months later!! He took a good contemporary song- no oldies here- Forever by Chris Brown and made it super fun to listen to. He had swagger, confidence, and a smile on his face. It felt real and I really enjoyed listening to it.
  7. Katie Stevens- I still feel like she's just acting and over thinking every aspect of the performance. A true artist just makes us, the audience, feel like it is true and natural. She did have a great vocal performance, but the attitude and everything she tried to portray is so fake. She did need to pick a younger song.
  8. Lee Dewyze- He is finally performing like a star. His vocals were amazing and I really enjoyed the song arrangement. Lee does need to start owning it though, he has great chops, but it's just his personality and star quality that needs some polishing. One of my favorites of the night.
  9. Crystal Bowersox- So she has heals and can play the piano,,, hmm? Was it necessary? I don't think so, but I do like the change from the birkenstock's and flower dresses. Great song choice and I thought she did great. She'll be here for sure.
  10. Aaron Kelly - I thought to myself,, "Why tackle this infamous song?" since it was one of the shining moments from Kris Allen last year. Ain't no sunshine I think needs to be hung on the shelf and left alone. His vocals were alright, but there was no conviction on this song. Not my favorite from him. But he'll be safe.
So there we have it. My power rankings for the top 10:
  • Lee Dewyze
  • Andrew Garcia
  • Mike Lynche
  • Crystal Bowersox
  • Casey James
  • Katie Stevens
  • Siobhan Magnus
  • Aaron Kelly
  • Tim Urban
  • Didi Benami
So what happened to the girls this season? Wasn't it supposed to be a girl's year? I'll tell you what happened,,,,Lilly was kicked out way too soon. Ticks me off,,,, oh well. Bottom three will be Katie Stevens, Tim Urban, and Didi Benami..... Tim will go home!!! Can't wait to see Usher perform,,, I really do enjoy him.

Top 11 Perform

Um, last night was awful! Is this what we are really subjected to listen to for the next 2 months? Honestly... a lot of disappointments, including Miley Cyrus as the mentor??? gack.... She hasn't even had a #1 hit, and that was the theme last night. (changed from teen idols last week) Let's discuss -

  1. Lee Dewyze I thought had a lot more charisma than he has showed in week's past... maybe cause he didn't have his guitar on? Whatever it was, his voice is rockin' and is so ready for the radio...
  2. Tim Urban is on my hit list. He is so stiff, boring, and never ever gonna make it in the industry.
  3. Paige Miles,,, what the heck happened to you? You used to know who you were and sing with such confidence. This was the WORST performance by far. She is so history tonight.
  4. Aaron Kelly did a really good job, but he is always singing the power ballad. He wasn't that bad for even having laryngitis and tonsilitis.
  5. Crystal Bowersox of course was the best of the night. She is effortless, but I agree with Ellen. She does need to act like she is accepting all of the fanfare. Maybe she's a shy person,,,? but I don't think she is. I wonder if she's gonna tackle Melissa Etheride at all this season.... wait, has she already? I can't remember.
  6. Mike Lynche was just another big teddy bear ,,, err,,, Ruben Studdard,,, I know he'll go far, but he won't win.
  7. Andrew Garcia is really in need of a serious good performance. I was hoping he would give us one last night, but he sang I heard it through the Grapevine. I am not sure why so many of them chose to sing really old songs and not change anything about them. It really was a blah performance. He's in the bottom 3.
  8. Katie Stevens finally got rid of her beauty pageant-esque style of singing and wardrobe and sang some Fergie. She got into the song and for the first time I felt her. It was her best performance. I'm thinking they need to cut her hair or something.
  9. Loved Casey James last night, even with his ode to Huey Lewis. He's an awesome musician and he is just fun to watch. I wonder how he would be without the guitar though.
  10. Now this one confused me. I thought Didi Benami did really well last night. I like her voice and so what if she was changing up her character. Isn't that what performer's do? I mean Adam Lambert was someone new every single week last season. And Siobhan has been someone different too. They have given her so many different judgements the poor girl is probably second guessing every move she makes instead of just doing what she wants. I hope she figures it out cause I like her.
  11. Siobhan Magnus had a great look last night and was totally comfortable on stage. She has had 3 really powerful weeks with the big scream at the end,,, so next week I'd like to see her tone it down a bit. Her very first performance in the 24 she sang that Chris Isaak song and I fell in love with her then. I think she needs to tone it down for next week to show her vulnerable side.

So the rankings for last night's performances are as follow:

  • Crystal
  • Siobhan
  • Casey
  • Lee
  • Didi
  • Mike
  • Katie
  • Aaron

Bottom 3 are

1. Paige

2. Tim

3. Andrew

I honestly don't care which of these three go, but my guess is Paige is packing her bags!

Results!

As was predicted, Lacey Brown has left the building. The bottom three, Tim Urban, Lacey, and Paige Miles were expected, but I still think that Paige Miles is better than what we've seen from her. It was fun to see David Cook again. I'm really not that into this Ke$ha character,,, what is she all about?? Anyone out there liking her yet? Hmmm,,, is she trying too hard? I think so, her whole performance was blah! And the Australian chic who wails on the electric guitar, Orianthi, she is AMAZING! She was the guitarist going on tour with Michael Jackson. If you haven't checked out "This is it" yet, go rent it now! She is incredible on that dvd, horrible song last night though.

Next week the theme is "Teen Idols".... so expect a lot of crappy songs from the younger ones. I hope the older contestants make the songs a little 'older' for the adults out there. Stay tuned! We could be listening to some Hannah Montana or Justin Bieber,,, oh goody,,, (accented with HEAVY sarcasm)

Top 12!!!

I have misseed three weeks of blogging! Shame on me - and shame on my computer - and shame on my constant vacationing this month. So I'm back, let's hit it. Can I just say that America totally got it wrong when they sent Lilly home last week!!?? She was unique and different and way more interesting than Katie Stevens. Katie is going to get lost in this competition, and just doesn't deserve it. I am not a fan of Aaron Kelly, he is too young and has no star presence about him at all, he sorta reminds me of that Kevin Covais (chicken little) from like 3-4 years back. I liked the Alex Lambert character, even though he was a bit shy - I think he might have broken out of his shell with more experience.

Last night's performances were a bit drab for me. Two really stood out for me and those were Siobhan's and Crystal's. Where is Adam Lambert when you need him?? Let's discuss: (and I hate to admit this, but I'm not a big fan of the Stones, I don't know why I never got on that band wagon, I don't hate them, just don't know their hits as well as a true blooded American - or Brit- should)
Big Mike Lynche: Well he wowed America and Kara last week with his rendition of "This Woman's work",,, but I am just not feeling it for this big dude. Sure, he can sing and perform, but honestly, can you see him at the Grammy's or the likes?? He performed this week "Miss you" and it was a good solid performance. He's gonna make it far in the competition because he actually has a real personality!!

Didi Benami: Just saying her name for some reason makes me smile,, say it with me now! ha. So she sang "Play with Fire" and I thought she performed better than she has in weeks. She was one of my favorites in the very beginning. She just seems like she's about to break though. Remember Brooke White? She was the same way, just an emotional wreck. I want more from her.
Casey James: First off, his hair is styled way better than it was a few weeks ago... ug,, what was up with the little girly blonde curls. He's a rocker man, not a cheap suzy dollar store doll! So he sang "It's all over now" and did a decent job. I felt he was very still, scared, and not really into the song. He smiles when he sings, which I like - a solid performance from him.

Lacey Brown: She's a pretty girl, has some decent talent, but I'm not feeling this at all. I used to like her, but she is sleepy to me. Meaning, no pizzaz, spaz, or raz-a-ma-tazz! She sang "Ruby Tuesday" and had on a crazy concoction of stripes, lace, and a little some'in some'in that wasn't working for me. Her hair is cool though. I can totally see her singing some Cranberries,,, I'm thinking she's hitting the road tonight.
Andrew Garcia: Well he's just about done on this show. I just am so sick of hearing the judges talking about his hollywood week performance of Straight up! Maybe he's just not all that good if he pulled out his best song ever about 5 weeks ago! Grr,, anyways, tonight he performed but it wasn't the right song for him, it just didn't fit at all. "Gimme Shelter" is not suited for his voice type.

Katie Stevens: I used to like this little girl, but she is a balladeer, and that's it! This song, "Wild Horses" fit her just fine and it was probably her best performance thus far, but she's just a plain old regular girl next door with no star quality.

Tim Urban: Well that sure was a crazy arrangement Mr. Urban. The only reason he made it to Top 12 is this, and only this - crazy teenage girls think he's cute. Man oh man, let's hope he's gone soon or, let's hope he MAJORLY steps it up. "Under My Thumb" should have been "Under my foot"! Siobhan Magnus: Finally!! Someone with some drama, performance, and guts! She took the song "Paint it Black" and really went out there to win it tonight. She was not sheepish at all and really just is herself people! I was waiting all night for a performance with a little umph, and she gave it to me. Most fun to watch of the night. And, I like that she's weird!

Lee Dewyze: Here's another name I like to say for some reason... So hey, I really like his voice, it's a total radio voice, but as Simon said - he is lacking in the personality department. America likes to become attached and connected to their idols, right? So he needs to really work on that. He sang "Beast of Burden" and I thought he did a really good job. I like him, just want him to smile a bit more, joke around, etc.

Paige Miles: Finally that big old voice is back! She does have a great vocal prowess and I think her eyes are pretty. I can't wait to hear her sing a different theme in the upcoming weeks! She sang "Honky Tonk Woman" which was a weird song. I've never even heard it before. Hey, laryngitis, go away!

Aaron Kelly: The judges gushed over this pre-pubescent kid and I just did not get it. His version of "Angie" was so boring!! I don't know what else to say, so I won't!

Crystal Bowersox: I always look forward to her performances, so that must mean she is one of my favorites! She sang "Can't always Get What You Want" and did a good job interpreting the lyrics and meaning of the song. She is going to make it far in this season!

So, here are my rankings of last night's performances.

  1. Siobhan Magnus
  2. Crystal Bowersox
  3. Didi Benami
  4. Casey James
  5. Paige Miles
  6. Lee Dewyze
  7. Mike Lynche
  8. Andrew Garcia
  9. Katie Stevens
  10. Aaron Kelly
  11. Lacey Brown
  12. Tim Urban
We'll see who gets the boot tonight!

Top 24!!

I missed last week's blog posts and this week's will be weak. You see, I'm on vacation - and although I watched the three shows this week, I just can't sit down and indulge all you faithful readers (3!!!) with my latest Idol thoughts. Here are some of the highlights however..... I thought it was absolutely ridiculous they sent that Black Country girl through and denied for the THIRD TIME the black girl with the daughter with disabilities. And to pour salt onto the wound, Kara tried to be all "sorry, you're good, but" while she took her seat and made the contestant sit on the armrest. That was a bunch of crap!! Boo! I think that was my only surprise on the 24. Simon even said that country girl was annoying and it has been proven with her performance of "I want to hold your hand" this week. "You were like a wind up toy"... my thoughts exactly. I am not digging her at all.

The first go around of the performances were just alright... but if you look back over the years, generally the first Live performances are shaky and just not that entertaining... You've got to weed out the ones with NO confidence, and the ones then, who truly want to be the Idol begin to emerge with gusto as they gain experience and comfort on the stage. The competition actually shows and the ones with the fight move forward. As for those kicked off last night,,,

I was disappointed with the two girls who left and also felt that that kid they brought back to fill the boy spot should have gone. His version of "apologize" was just plain awful. The girls were nervous, and wrong song choices as usual. Janell Wheeler was better and I have no clue why she didn't use her guitar...? Duh! The other girl,,, Rodriguez?, I was a little surprised she got the boot. Now Tyler Grady, the kick back to the 70's, yes he was weird, but was he the Sanjaya factor that will be missing this season? The one who we look forward to see how they will do on the stage. What they will wear? What will they sing? What will the dance like? You never know,,,

I really liked that Siobhan girl, sang the Chris Isaak song "I wanna fall in love"... i thought she had great control of breathing and phrasing. She stood out for me. And the chick with the white hair was different and confident.

So, we've got 10 and 10...next week, more thoughts will be posted, and perhaps a little live bloggin!

Hollywood Week

I had the WORST catastrophe last night. All the kids were settled in for a long winter's nap. I then ran downstairs to sit down on my couch to watch my show. Well, I grabbed my little remote to go to menu on the DVR and found American Idol. I clicked 'select' and nothing happened!! The DVR did not record the episode I have been waiting for all season!!! It was like a horrible horrible joke someone was playing on me. Our DVR has never done anything this ridiculous and of course, it happened on the ONE show I've been wanting to watch....... grrrr

Luckily a blog I read about Idol had videos posted and a description of all the action. Phew... so I watched last night's show on my laptop, didn't catch everything, but it's better than nothing. I'll be checking tonight's episode the minute it starts to see if the DVR works this time.

So onto the talent. Now this is the first season that they filmed Hollywood week this late in the season. The filmed it within the last month, so there was no time to push the people who would really be good in the audition episodes. Case in point - the 'good' singers they focused on with their back story's and what not, disappointed the judges during the first round of Hollywood auditions. The country girl with the horrible accent - GONE, the missionary who survived cancer - GONE, (and he even made it to group rounds in season 8) the 16 year old with the down syndrome brother's, - GONE!! for a few examples. The ding bat Skiboskii is thankfully gone. I don't know why they even sent him to Hollywoood. Oh, and the splits pants guy..
  • Loved Andrew Garcia! He sang Straight Up - Paula Abdul, with a guitar! I liked his 'musicality' (word used frequently by the judges,,, is that a real word?)
  • Loved Janell Wheeler who strapped on that guitar and sang very well. She's cute too.
  • Haley Vaughn (African American Country girl) - not a fan, but they'll push it because she's different.
  • Mary Powers the rocker mom, again, not a huge fan.
  • Lilly Scott - who we didn't see audition, finally gets to wow us during this episode. She sang Ella Fitzgerald's "Lullaby of Birdland" and did a really good job. I was impressed.
  • Miky Lynche- big body builder who's wife went into labor right before he sang - meh,, still did not like his voice or style. His higher notes were squeezed if felt like to me.
  • Casey James- the poor sucka who had to take his shirt off during his audition, is REALLY good. He has a soulful raspy thing going on and he wailed on the guitar. The auditioners were all into his performance too. Much better audition than his original one.
  • Didi Behnami - this girl I liked during the auditions, a lot.... and I still REALLY like her. She can sing man! She went with 'Terrified' which was written by Kara, not a bad song, Katherine McPhee is singing it now.
  • Crystal Bowersox with the dreds and majorly yellow teeth, sang 'Natural Woman' with the guitar and man she has it. Very good stage presence, got the crowd in it, and the judges were impressed. I like her.

It seemed we have a lot more girls this year that they are focusing on, since Randy says a girl will win this season.... hmmm. But if they are doing the same format this year as previous,, Top 6 boys and 6 girls will comprise the 12 on the big stage, then it's up to the voters. Tonight is the Group rounds, which I really really hate..... American Idol is not about singing in a group, it is a solo act, so they shouldn't stick people in with a bunch of fools who have totally different singing styles. Just my opinion. And did we like Ellen? I like that she adds humor after something serious, it lightens up the room a bit. I think she is not going to take any of Simon's B.S. like Paula did. I like her already....

Best of the Rest

Finally, the last show of auditions. They sort of went through a montage of good and bad from all the cities. So here goes:

  • We had a girl sing a simon cowell song.. I didn't know he actually wrote music? So she's better than last year, has spruced up her look, and you gotta give her props for trying out again.
  • Then the annoying actress girl... she is an ok singer, but she might get on my nerves!
  • The last year girl who sat next to megan Joy in the top 50... she sang somewhere over the rainbow.. i liked her phrasing. She seems like she wants this!
  • That tall dude with the girl voice? What was that? I've never seen anything like that. He's gotta have some sort of genetic disorder.
  • The muscle guy is not all that, but they sent him through.
  • I really REALLY liked the girl who sang for her friend who died 4 years ago. She sang Hey Jude, and she nailed it. I was impressed.
  • Then the other poor boy adopted by his aunt, sang "The Climb" a little countryfied,, he'll be a cutey with all the teen girls.
  • Then there was the girl who was born to sing, but could not find the notes in the Alicia Keys song. I bet the judges are so dang sick of that song.
  • Then the girl who didn't know her family was poor and missed dinners,, I thought she was beautiful. She could be a model if this doesn't work out. Huge smile, and she can sing. I liked her a little.

So here we go folks. Next week. It. is. down. to. business! I can't wait.

Denver Auditions

I am sooo sick of auditions weeks!!! Thank heavens we start Hollywood week next week and get to see Ellen as the new judge. This should be an interesting upcoming week for sure. Let's see if I can remember any thoughts on the shows this week.
  • I thought the black girl who sang country was interesting. They might be pushing her for her 'different' style.
  • The Jack Black look alike guy I felt so bad for. Simon kept drilling him on his back story of being kidnapped by his mom etc. Enough I just kept saying. He sang pretty good.
  • Then Simon making fun of someone's laugh.,,, sometimes he is a jerk!
  • The girl who does karaoke and had a daughter.. she sang melissa Etheridge, and it's a raspy powerful voice.
  • Then the blonde guy goes up, has to take his hair out of his pony tail, then unbutton his shirt, then take it off.. COME ON... way to humiliate someone in front of America. I hate that they do that to people. He was alright.
  • Oh gosh, the football player. Give me a break. So not good, so not good looking, and ug. He needs to be gone.
  • Then the helium girl was a little weird. Her voice was soo high, and then she sang, I was not blown away, but they send her through.
  • Then we had bikini boy. Please don't give him his 5 minutes of fame. Please!

The next night we have the best of the rest.. whatever that means.

Thursday, January 28

Dallas Auditions

Well thanks to my lack of preparation, I missed the last half of American Idol because of the State of the Union Speech. I missed the whole Joe Jonas guest judge spot. I thought Neil Patrick Harris was a major D-BAG! He had attitude, and treated the show like he was interviewing for the next CEO job of a major company. He acted like he was in charge with his, "Simon, yes or no?",,, I did not DIG him at all. Why did they have him judge anyways?? But onto the talent, there were a few that I really liked....here we go.

  • Laughed out loud when the blue sequin girl with blue eye shadow came, because she truly thought she was good. She kept singing after they said, No, and it just made me laugh.
  • Then we had the next Ruben Studdard. I knew he would make it through because they filmed him and his family, etc. He was alright, didn't knock my socks off.
  • Then bluesy jazzy singer that Simon said no to, but everyone else said yes. I kinda liked her tone. She won't make it too far.
  • WHAT A JOKE! The Barney singer Dominatrix - WHY??? She didn't have a good voice, it was too high and squealy in my opinion. She can sing, but it's not powerful, and how annoying to sing an En Vogue song,, horrible song to audition with. But they sent her through,,, who knows.... I'm not a fan!
  • The tourrette's guy - well he has a nice voice,, and I may not be PC with this comment, but I think people will start to get annoyed watching him. I'm not a horrible person, I promise,, but like last year's Scott MacIntyre who was blind, he got some sympathy votes, then I think he just kinda started 'bugging' the viewer a bit. I don't know,,,
  • I liked the guy who did The color Purple with Fantasia. He sang an original little tune to show off his vocals,, I thought it was fun.
  • A blonde girl with too short of shorts got up to sing, and I was NOT expecting that out of her mouth. She was really good, and Simon cut her off right before her big chorus of Garth Brook's 'to make you feel my love'. I really liked her. Maegan.

Then I missed the rest,, I'll have to go somewhere and find them and watch... next week is Denver,,, woot woot! Man I can't wait for Hollywood week! Bring it on! I'm ready!

Wednesday, January 27

Los Angeles Auditions

Well last night we had Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry guest judging. Avril was just pointless in my opinion,, but I did finally see a performer that I know will make it to top 12. Some memorable performances:

  • First up we had a really nerdy 19 year old who was the greasiest person ever. So shiny! He was ridiculous. NEXT!
  • We had a father of 3 pastor guy who wasn't that bad. Golden ticket.
  • Next up some rocker chic who Simon says was dressed very cliche,, and I agree, but she has some potential if she can truly discover who she is. She sang Pat Benatar. Golden Ticket.
  • Then some dude who thought Adam Lambert liked his voice. It was a mess, he could barely open his mouth. It was a good moment to laugh this season.
  • Some dude doing scissor kicks on the floor, what a nut.
  • Then we have the big lead up to performance with the big back story and the crying parents, etc, so you know that they are pushing this one. His folks were in gangs in Compton, he is a success story, has a kid etc. I actually really liked his voice and overall appeal.
  • Then my fav of the night, the girl who is a personal assistant by day and minister at night. She sings a Joss Stone song and hits the high note with ease... She seems at ease with herself and in front of the cameras. She's one to watch. Tasha.
  • We had a freak posing like a girl all over the place, no thank you very much.
  • Then some kid with crazy hair and of course sad back story. Of course he's making it through since they put him last and etc etc. He sings Stand By Me,, I was not blown away, he's alright.

So just a few good ones for me tonight. They sent 22 out of 11,000 to Hollywood. Tonight we have Neil Patrick Harris and Joe Jonas... What a delight...! Ha, I wonder if any little girls are going to faint..

Oh, p.s.,,, remember that little girl bawling in the audience when Sanjaya performed,,,?? Well she auditioned in L.A. and she looks exactly the same,,,, !! I was dying. Braids and Braces and she was hysterical when she didn't make it. Gave me a chuckle.....

Thursday, January 21

Orlando Auditions

I thought Kristen Chenoweth was hi-larious in Glee this season, she is a talented little firecracker! I think Kara is really really starting to bug me... Maybe she'll be better during live TV,,,

  • The dude with the autistic kid... just alright
  • I liked the cute guy who sang the Tony Bennet song, I think he'll be one to watch
  • I didn't even watch the glittery sequin guy,,, FF
  • The girl who had half her face paralyzed, I really liked her, I don't know if she's ready for the big time though. Not a lot of confidence.
  • The beat box guy was amazing. I didn't like his voice. I am just amazed though, how people can make those sounds with their voice.
  • Then there were three really good girls, and they didn't spend much time on them.
  • The Jersey sisters,, give me a break. The one on the side looked like she was having a religious experience when her sister was singing. It was laughable...
  • And the last dude who was in jail,, reminds me of Michael Sarver a little bit (from last year) He's confident, and could be interesting to watch. But he didn't blow me away.

No one yet this season has screamed out AMERICAN IDOL, but then again, we haven't seen the talent. They've just been blasting us with the lame-o's. Onto next week in L.A. with Neil Patrick Harris guest judging. Peace!

Wednesday, January 20

Chicago Auditions

Not impressed at all. I thought Shania was cookoo. The girl who has been to Hollywood two other times, she was good. This could finally be her year. I hope she can get a break,,, let's see- who else was there.
  • Oh, the horrible fainting bouncing boobs girl. Horrible
  • That 16 year old that was blond and sang 'summertime',,, had a very good voice, just weak and not very loud
  • The Asian student who had a nice tone and quality to his voice... shania tried to compliment him, but the innuendos came flying out,,,of course
  • The asthma girl got sent through, I kinda liked her voice
Only 20 singers from 12,000 chosen from Chicago,, those are horrible odds. And we only got 5 of those tickets on the show to see. I wish they would focus more on those they send, then let's say,, the bouncing boobs girl. FAST FORWARD please!

Thursday, January 14

Atlanta Auditions

Well day 2 of American Idol,,,, Things coming to my mind were the crazy guy at the end who was arguing with THEE Mary J. Towards the end of the whole 5 minute F bomb and bleeps,,, I actually got a kick out of it. People on the street were cheering him on.
I mean come on man!
And that old dude's song about pants on the ground,,, hilarious!! I think it will be some crazy viral hit. It made me laugh.
Another thing that made me laugh was this,,,
Oh My!!! That is one classic picture of
Ryan Seacrest!
So back onto the contestants. The bridge jumper hick girl from the middle of nowhere Tennessee. If there is ever any stereotyping done on this here blog, please forgive me, I'm not here to be too politically correct...but can you say she is your typical backwoods hillbilly?? She should be interesting since she has never been on an 'aeroplane' before. We'll see how she handles the stage and stress of Hollywood.
The girl who dressed up like a guitar was annoying, majorly, and it bugged me because she could actually sing. Why do people have to try so hard?
I CAN NOT believe they put ski-bo-skii through! He's a ding bat and they will just throw him in our face for as long as possible. He's not serious about the competition, he was trying to hit on everyone,,, ug ug ug. He could sing,, but come on,,, his whole show was annoying!
The two stupid BFF's,,, again, ug. There was a cop guy who could sing, but not to sound mean or anything, his looks will not send him through.... Don't judge,, you all know it's true!
On to next week with Shania Twain and Kristin Chenoweth guest judging.

Wednesday, January 13

Boston Auditions

And so it begins,,,,

And so I hit the Fast Forward button on my little remote, oh too frequently. After watching American Idol for years now, I'm kinda getting sick of the whole 'Let's put the psycho's on T.V. for ratings' schpill. We know there are cookoo brains out there who want their 5 minutes of fame (i.e. bikini girl) and frankly, I'm just not interested. I don't even care to write much about last night's show other then to say that there were only a few who stood out for me.

  • I liked the Italian guy's personality, but I just felt he YELLED the entire song. I didn't think they were going to put him through.
  • The 16 year old girl from the big family had a great voice. She had control, especially singing a heart felt song like Hallelujah. If she was nervous, it didn't show.
  • The waiter guy with the little beanie on,,, he could have some potential.
  • The girl who sang the Alicia Keys song. She had no attitude and was excellent!
  • The other 16 year old who takes care of her Portugese Grandmother,,, man she can sing. Where are these 16 year olds coming from?? sheesh,,
  • Justin Williams made it to Hollywood last year, there's a youtube video of him singing in the group sing off with Kris Allen, Matt Giraud, the rapper girl. They sang 'I want you back'. Don't remember him, just caught it today on another site. Maybe this is his year.
  • Then there's the girl who sang "Blue Skies" who was held down in life by her over religious parents. Great control to her voice,, she lacks confidence. She may buckle in Hollywood week.

Well there you have it folks. The real fun will begin Hollywood week where we will meet Ellen as the new judge.

Did you miss Paula? meh,,, me either....I may miss her come Performance time, only because of her getting up and dancing and her bumbling ridiculous similie's and metaphor's..... Favorite still from a few years back, she was telling David Archuletta how cute he was... It was something along the lines of, "You're so cute I want to pop off your head and hang it from my rear view mirrow".... whaaaa??

Oh Paula, are you kicking yourself now???

What are you doing?

Where are you?

Monday, January 11

And the winner is,,,,,,,,,,,,KRIS ALLEN

Well here it is to all 3 of you people who actually follow this blog.... do I have more followers than that???,, well I hope so. So let's discuss, if memory allows it. Has it really been 8 months? ,, man time is flying, but I'm glad I got to look at all of these pictures again because it is just getting me more and more excited about tomorrow night's premier.,,,, seriously,, can you stand it??

Well it all came down to these 2 dudes. Thousands and thousands of hopefuls and it winds down to a Glam rocker and guitar totin' mellow guy. We all know how it ends up and you should have seen the shock on my face.
I was sooooo mad. And to think cutesy little smug Ryan Secrest knew the entire night,,, what a putz. It was the shocker of the century..Now the reason Kris won I blame solely on this yellow piece of state on this map. Yep,, you heard me right. It was all stupid Arkansas's fault. It was said that 33% of Kris's votes came from Arkansas alone and I blame this on the fact that there is absolutely nothing to do in Arkansas.
Well onto the show. The artists who perform at the finale each year say that this show is even better than the Grammy's and man I believe 'em. The Black Eyed Peas performed the sensational Boom boom pow which was the mega hit of the year...
Then our cute little Allison Iraheta sang "Time after time" with a mummy.... er,, I mean Cindy Lauper. (What in the hell is she wearing?)
The classic moments of each finale show is to bring back the fools who made a scene during auditions, drama, what have you. So of course we had to have Norman Gentle come back.... so,, has anyone heard anything from him over the last 8 months?? I didn't think so.
Who could forget Tatiana? I mean really, the hyper ventilating was a little much, the over the top dramatic crap when she was begging for a place on the show??,, a little too much, and that dress??
We had Kris Allen rockin' with the Aussie,,, I didn't know Kris was country? oh that's right,, he's not.
Best cheesy moment ever,, Lionel Ritchie and Danny Gokey... Did they sing "Dancin' on the Ceilin?" man I can't remember, but that would have been the frosting on the cupcake.... something about Lionel,,,just ain't right..
Santana came out to play his 1999 hit... with the rest of the top 13. we got to see some contestants who were kicked off like 3 months prior,,, do we even remember the puerto Rican guys name,,,I still think the cute little blonde thing Alexis Grace was robbed, she was gone too soon.
We got us some Anoop ya'll along with Mr. MRAZ... fun performance.
Who can forget Adam and Kris singing along with Queen,,, somehow or other it just didn't fit Kris,,, like,,, - at ALL. Oh Paula,,, How I'll miss you,,, and look at Simon's block head,,, really it is..
Lil Rounds definitely looks LIL next to the Queen. That was an interesting outfit for sure.
This Adam Lambert KISS number was one in a million. Adam's boots, shoulder cage contraption thingy's, and the fireworks, the vocals, and the makeup... it was really so over the top and I LOVED IT!
Then we had the sweetsy little Megan Joy and ,, is that,, - Steve Martin?? Isn't he just a little too , I don't know,, above American Idol?? He is very talented on the old banjo, I see him on David Letterman every once in awhile... this was a cute little song along with the oil rig guy singing too.
And then we had the Last Number with all the cool kids of the Season. This was a really good season and to think it was Paula's last.....

With American Idol 2010 premiering in just about 2 days, I thought I'd better get my butt in gear and write about the finale that happened about 6 months ago,,, look for that coming soon,, it will take me a day or two to remember who won!
