What a fun show! First of all, love Michael Jackson, so it was a good night for me. The stage looks awesome this year, love the special affects screens behind the singers, and the cool little television screen thing right in front of the judges table. Seacrest announced that tomorrow they will be eliminating two people instead of one, that's interesting.
Let's Discuss...
1. Scott McIntyre - I don't like his hair... (is that rude of me?) I thought he did alright, a little shaky in some spots, but he'll be dropped in about 3-4 weeks I predict.

2. Michael Sarver sang "You are not alone" and it's a good thing, because it was slow and even and simple. I don't like the way he is singing lately. He might be in the bottom 3.

3. Megan Corkrey is just all and all creative and unique. She is definitely somebody that we have not seen on that stage before. She is sticking to who she is and it's great. She is a beautiful girl. She sang 'rockin' robin' - a Jackson 5 hit. It sounded alright. Simon didn't like it for some reason, I thought it was fun. She'll stick around.

4. Matt Giraud definitely showed us why he belongs in this competition. He is a great piano player and he is reminiscent of a Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke kind of performer. I thought his falsetto was great at the end.
5. Lil Rounds to me is not all that. I don't think she is anything different or new, and I don't know why the judges are praising her so much. What a horrible
horrible outfit choice. Those pants were awful. She sang the way you make me feel, and slowed it down a bit. I'm just not buying into this hype.

6. Kris Allen actually did his best performance that I've heard, and he switched it up by playing the guitar. It was an interesting arrangement, and I thought there was something going on with the sound or amp, the guitar wasn't loud enough or something. He is a cutey guy, but kinda generic in my view.

7. Jorge Nunez did not do as bad as the judges thought. I'm sure the song choice could have been better, but he still can sing. He might be in the bottom this go around.
8. Jasmine Murray still has not wowed me. Again, very pageantry and showy and not real to me. It's all a boxed version or something. No personality maybe..... to proper?? I just don't think she'll make it far.

9. Danny Gokey is just a good guy. I liked his performance a lot. We all know that he is a front runner and will make it far.

10. Anoop, Anoop,, why did you sing Beat it. I was hoping no one would touch Beat it or Thriller,, because those are just impossible to sing or perform, because it will just look karaoke or goofy. You know? So, he tried it, and he didn't nail it. He may be in the bottom.

11. Alison Iraheta has a very raspy voice. It's good. Very good. She's awkward in interviews, but she's 16 for crying out loud. Great potential here, but we have already had a winner with her style, Kelly Clarkson perhaps? She'll make it far.

12. Alexis Grace is a tiny package of dynamite. Her voice is crazy good and she sings with so much passion and truth. I believe her when she is singing. She ended the show and did it with a bang.

13. Adam Lambert is going to win this competition. It will come down to Adam and Danny. There, I said it. I believe at this stage those two will be in the finals. I just do not foresee either of them having a bad performance. I never get nervous when either one is about to perform. Like, I get nervous when Michael Starver gets up to sing, because I don't know what's going to come out of his mouth. (I'm such a spaz) Adam sang Black or White and did a good job. Paula sang praises galore and made him cry. (I think I teared) There really is no other perfomer like him. I only wonder how he will do if there is a low key song without all the energy.

Paula Abdul looked like a glazed donut in a morgue and she seemed to be studdering more than usual last night. She's awkward and makes me nervous. Tomorrow night we have a new Twist that everyone keeps talking about.
This was the best start to the season I've ever seen. And that's because of the new format. They pulled in the tops of all the groups so that it would be very competitive. And it is. I like most of them, so it will be difficult to decide.
Here's what I think - we'll either have a bottom 3 and the judges will choose who should go home... or we'll have a bottom 3 and they'll have to sing for their lives right there and judges decide,, or maybe each judge will have a choice who they want to save. Something along those lines.
Tonight's bottom 3 are Michael Starver, Anoop Desai, and Jasmine Murray. Tonight's performers are Kelly Clarkson and Kanye West. Should be exciting. Also today Taylor Hicks and Elliot Yamin released albums/songs for download. A busy week.

I agree, more or less, with what you said about everyone. I really like Anoop and couldn't believe the song he chose.
What was up with Paula? She looked terrible and couldn't put two thoughts together at once.
I think the twist will be that they will eliminate TWO people tonight.
They already announced they were doing that,, but on top of that,,, there is a new format for the elimination process....
I think the bottom 3 will be:
Jorge, Anoop, and Megan. Sorry. I know you like Megan. :) Maybe Kris.
I love this season!! So fun!!
I don't know what the new twist will be, but I'm excited to find out.
Hi Jas Spear's friend here just checking out this fancy pants blog she told me about. I'm a former Hidden Valley member. This season hasn't been my favorite one but seeing this is fun to read. Great predictions that I believe may pan out hands down.
Love your little summary of the evening. Do you take little notes during it. I can't even remember who sang. I do still love Danny--hope he wins it all. Adams still bugs me.. he's good, but just don't like him. That Mindy chick (the tattoo arm girl?) She is just too cukoo for me. Anoop--needs to go. Can't believe he made it through another week. He just doesn't have the pizazz. And Jasmine--she was a cute girl, just couldn't sing. Thanks for keeping us updated on Idol. We are enjoying this season now that it's officially under way. Can't wait for next week. We're so there!
PS I lke the new rule that they introduced. It'll be interesting to see when they use it.
Ha! "She looked like a glazed donut in a morgue", you crack me up Janelle! I totally laughed out loud. Well you already know all my opinions since they are pretty much your own, but I'm glad Jasmine and Jorge went home. And I love the rule that the judges can save someone once. That should make for some good television!
And has Adam put on a little weight or is that just me? Each week his pants look tighter and tighter. Or maybe that's just strategy :)
What was the twist? I missed last night we went to the Draper Temple Open house for Young Women's and it took 4 hours. Long waits. I was so surprized the Jorge was voted off...I liked him better then some of the others. Adam does bug me too, but he will probably win.
I do enjoy reading your analysis of the singers.
The performances Dusty and I liked were:
Matt Giraud, Alison, Alex Grace
we did NOT like Adam Lambert he drives us crazy he just seems like some rich boy whose all dressed up in his drama clothes for a dress rehearsal -- if he was really hard core it would be a different story anyway I don't even think he sound that good. I was totally surprised that the judges all went off about his performance I guess the crowd/audience was just too loud and the judges didn't get to hear the cracky voice.
And his teeth just look to perfect for the appearance he is going for, have you noticed that?- jandee
