Well after last week's shocking elimination, I had to rethink who was going to be in the finale. I can't believe James was booted off.... did people think he was safe??
Anywhoo,,
Last night was alright for me. The one who shined was Haley,,, not Lauren! Something about her age and immaturity just doesn't mesh well. Haley had confidence and went for those notes more than Lauren did.
Haley's Led Zeppelin # with her Daddy-O was awesome. She was wailing, she was moving, she was FALLING! Poor Girl, but she recovered perfectly. I don't know how she moves around in those heels anyways. I wouldn't be able to walk in those things! Her Fleetwood Mac song was very pretty as well, it showed a different side of her voice and her stage qualities. Her makeup was beautiful last night. and did you notice?,,, Steven Tyler said Beautiful in every single critique of the 9 performances. "That was beautiful man",,, over and over again. I understand why the judges picked the Alannis song for her,, and it was because of the chorus. The verses were muddled and hard to understand,,, it is a difficult song to sing... I know... it's on Rock Band! Lol. She did do justice to those chorus's.
Scotty the body, had his crazy googley eyes and eyebrows going all whacky for a bit, but I really liked the second song the best. The Kenny Rogers song was ultra on the cheese factor... not my favorite. And it was nice to hear his upper register on Amazed. I actually enjoy him the most when he plays the guitar, which he rarely did this whole season. Isn't it weird too that not one Idol played the piano?
Lauren Alaina sang a great bunch of covers. She is a copy cat in my opinion. The Faith Hill song, which I love, was just a regular old karaoke version. Nothing new. She did hit the great notes on "Dance" the last song, so I thought she sounded really good on that one.
I'm really feeling Haley this season. She's not a cookie cutter, has some personality and gusto, and can sing like no one's business.
I would like to see Haley and Scotty in the finale, but have a feeling America's teens went crazy with their texting last night and voted Scotty and Lauren in.

Top 5 perform
I've been SOOOOO busy the last 2 weeks, and haven't had time to do a little idol bloggy action. So let's do a quick little recap of the top 5.
This was a pretty good week. OF COURSE Jacob was RIDICULOUS singing No Air. I'm so glad he is GONE from the season. Horrible hip thrusting action and just plain old ridiculous body movements.
Haley has so much more confidence on the stage than Lauren Alaina. Haley's scratchy vocals are just so interesting to listen to.
I'm irritated that Lauren didn't have the confidence to hit the big note in 'unchained melody'. That coulda been an incredible moment. She's just too dang nervous up there. The Carrie Underwood cover was just alright, but she doesn't have the acting down yet. You gotta get up there and act.
James and his little crying is getting too much for me. Pull it together man. Still love him though.
Scotty did well with his 2 numbers. I still predict him in the final 2.
So with Jacob gone, I have no one I hate anymore on stage. Daughtry left us at top 4 a few years back, do you think that could happen again?
Just read that Casey Abrams will be dueting with Jack Black at the finale. CAN NOT Wait to watch that one.
Next week they do songs from songwriters from the 50's. So some oldies again. I want one of the idols to take a song and totally switch it up,,, much like David Cook and Adam Lamber were able to do so brilliantly.
It's really hard for me to predict the rest of the season. I totally called Jacob going home, after this point, it will seriously be a surprise. Let's just say it will be a James/Scotty finale or a James/Lauren finale.

Top 7 Perform!
It was expected for Paul not to win this thing... he was entertaining to watch and oasionally listen to.... but it was his time. I'm totally fine with it.
For the outcast number, he sounded AWFUL.
My DVR did not work last night, so I had to watch youtube to get the performances. This will be short and sweet.

- Scotty McCreery- he is solid, but he's not switchin' anything up.
- James Durbin- he is the creative, think out of the box contestant, love this Muse song, he did an ok job until the octave higher deal. He shoulda kept it down.
- Haley Reinhart - I really need to check out this Adelle album apparently, she was confident and she nailed the whole thing vocally.
- Jacob Lusk - Luther Vandross dance with my father,,, I'm done with Jacob.
- Casey Abrams- I much prefer Casey doing his jazzy bluesy thing over the rock thing. His duet with Haley last week was off the chart good. I loved it. No more rock and scary faces Casey!
- Stefano- woo hoo, the sexy camera eyes. ha. He did alright for me.
- Lauren Alaina- still has not had her moment on the stage. Everything is so immature with her movements and her self-esteem. She should have waited until after high school to mature a bit. Decent song, did not blow me away.
- Haley Reinhart
- James Durbin
- Scotty McCreery
- Casey Abrams
- Lauren Alaina
- Stefano Langone
- Jacob Lusk

Top 8 Perform
Well, Pia is gone. That was a shocker. But after everything I've read the past week, Nigel (the producer) said she was never going to win. Her votes and fans were never that high. He knows who the winners will be based on the votes each week. He said Carrie Underwood was the top vote winner every single week during her season. Plus, she's already signed a recording contract. She'll be fine, and we will hear from her soon I'm sure.
So. Movie Week.... songs from the cinema! This is a very broad theme which is good for all the remaining contestants. I can't believe there are only 2 girls left.
So. Movie Week.... songs from the cinema! This is a very broad theme which is good for all the remaining contestants. I can't believe there are only 2 girls left.
- First up was Paul McDonald. I wasn't too thrilled with his rendition of "Old Time Rock-n-Roll" mostly because his voice didn't mesh well with it. Loved his crazy suit though. I think he does do better with his guitar. Still a fun performance, but it didn't get him anymore fans.
- Lauren Alaina- Hells yes she would perform "The Climb" a million times better than Miley Cyrus. I'm so annoyed that the writer of that song wasted it on her voice. I think this was Lauren's best vocal performance because she actually 'went there' with the chorus and the big notes. Love Seacrest's comment about her mom... I laughed and rewinded it a few times.. something along the lines of "that's some volume in that air mom"... ha ha. Her mom bugs.
- Stefano Langone- singing the old favorite End of the Road from boyz 2 men. If you just listen to him sing it's much easier for me. Something about his performances are always so desperate and intense. He has a great instrument though.
- Scotty McCreery- As much as I would like to critique him I just can't. He sang George Strait's "Cross My Heart" and I'm sure he did it better than George. I repeat myself each week, I just can't get over his voice and his age. I would like him to hold the mic like a man though... I'm always afraid he's going to drop it with his lightly gripped finger tips.
- Casey Abrams doing the bass again,, and doing it so smooth and cool. He sang Nat King Cole's "Nature Boy" ,, a song I'm not familiar with, but it was so dope. The dude is so musical,,, loved it.
- Haley Reinhart doing a little Blondie action singing "Call Me" and it was alright. I really wanted her to get into it, but I think it's her performance that I just don't like sometimes. She's too smiley? This is a song that does not require as much teeth as she was showing. Her chorus was really good,,,but I just don't know about her on this one.
- Jacob Lusk seemed a little less confident and happy this week. I think being in the bottom 3 and being called out several times on his little "America is afraid to look at themselves in the mirror" schtick kinda got to him. Good. He needed to be brought down a bit. So he sang "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and did a decent job. His vibrato sounded like a baby lamb was being strangled though. I can't even duplicate that sound when I try. It's way too much.
- James Durbin closed the show with "Heavy Metal".... and was getting a little wordy with the producer guy. James knows his little genre and stuck to his guns. His voice is out of this world, but sometimes I don't feel like he's really a rocker... kinda like he's just a poser or something. I don't know what it is, but it's off. I like James and think he will be in the Final 3.
- Scotty McCreery
- Casey Abrams
- Lauren Alaina
- James Durbin
- Stefano Langone
- Paul McDonald
- Haley Reinhart
- Jacob Lusk

The Top 9 Perform!
So, results... Naima and Thia are gone,,,, phew.
Let's get to last night. I didn't live blog, was feeling a little under the weather, plus my hubs was hogging the laptop. The theme
Rock'N'Roll!!! Let me repeat, that no one performed awful. So if I'm harsh, it's because someone has got to go....
Let's get to last night. I didn't live blog, was feeling a little under the weather, plus my hubs was hogging the laptop. The theme
Rock'N'Roll!!! Let me repeat, that no one performed awful. So if I'm harsh, it's because someone has got to go....
- Jacob Lusk - Man in the Mirror- Hated it! Hate watching him perform. Something about the white suit, and sneakers that reminded me of a male nurse. When he starts moving on stage he is just too dang bouncy,, Ug. Can't handle it.
- Haley Reinhart - Piece of My Heart - Loved it! She really wailed up on this thing and showed she's got some dirt behind that voice of hers. I would like to see her in less high of a heal so that she could really move around that stage without fear of breaking an ankle. Maybe Less smiley when she sings??
- Casey Abrams - Have you ever seen the rain? - This guy is sooooo good. I mean a Bass, for reals? He sorta reminds me of a Counting Crows - ish type of sound. Like I've said before, this dude is pure music.
- Lauren Alaina- Natural Woman- I still feel like she is a pageantry singer. Is she really singing from her soul,, or is it just all too staged. She has the pipes, but it's her immaturity that is killing me.
- James Durbin - While My Guitar Gently Weeps - And then James gently weeps, I thought the tears were a little too much. He did a good job. In fact, I told my husband before he performed that he needed to tone it down this week. Glad he took my advice...um, if we compare him to a former rocker with a wailing voice, Adam Lambert, James' softer performances are nothing to compare. So there. (think Mad World)
- Scotty McCreery - That's Alright - Haha. J Lo asks him if he watches rap and hip hop! I was thinking the same thing with his little arm motions. But, he never sings bad, he's always on! He should be safe.
- Pia Toscano - River Deep, Mountain High - So, I must say, that she thinks she's singing an upbeat song and changing things up by moving down the stairs and such, BUT SHE IS NOT! She is still strolling around the stage like it's a Sunday afternoon. I SOOOOO agree with J LO. She needs to get into it, not just move her arms up and down a few times more during the 2 minute performance. She had to lose her mind and body during that song.. I mean go watch Tina Turner perform this and slay this. Even Celine Dion goes a little nuts during her faster paced songs. I just want Pia to stop bending her knees together and then moving one hip out... jump up and down and make me feel it. Mary J is another good one who really goes into the song. OK... are you listening Pia??????
- Stefano Langone - When a Man Loves a Woman- He might just be done tonight. Not that it was bad, but he doesn't really stand out as much as the others, plus he's been in the bottom 3 before. I'm not sure his fan base is growing week to week.
- Paul McDonald - Folsom Prison Blues - He's such a weird skinny gangly creature! I thought this was a fun one and loved him playing the guitar. He would be fun to see live I think. I hope he's safe, cause I like watching him perform.
- Paul McDonald
- Casey Abrams
- Scotty McCreery
- Haley Reinhart
- James Durbin
- Pia Toscano
- Lauren Alaina
- Stefano Langone
- Jacob Lusk

The top 11 perform,,,, AGAIN!
So, they used the save last week. Was it too early? They must have really felt like Casey Abrams could make it into the top 5.... and it was really nice of them to do it, because I think he totally deserves to go on tour. It was a pretty shocking results show,,, just as Ryan promised! ha ha. I'm kinda glad we are done with the save,, it just means,, you lose-you lose!
Well here we are,,, Elton John week? They haven't had this theme since season 3,, but a lot of Idols have sung his songs through the years. Remember when that red headed kid, John Stevens, from season 3 tried to sing Crocodile Rock?? I think it might be one of the worst idol performances ever. I still have no clue how he even made it in.
Ok.. live blogging tonight.
JLO looks really pretty tonight. I like her hair straight,, and what's up with Ryan's comb over...? hee hee.
Yes! Paul has his crazy rose jacket on,,, oh my!!! and suit pants! love it!
My power rankings based on tonight's performances.

- Scott McCreery - (Country Livin') Wow, he's playing the guitar. Bout time! He is reminding me of Chris Ledoux tonight. Oh boy, that shoutout to the Grandma will get him a lot of votes! so cute. This performance was alright, just a good old cowboy song. He does have a lot of stage confidence. He never appears nervous.
- Naima Adedapo - (I'm still standin') Have they fixed her top teeth? I'm diggin' her knee high converse. K, she is so Lauryn Hill. This ain't half bad people. Let's hope there is no African dancin' in the future. She has a lot of confidence up there. I don't agree with Randy - it was not corny. oh, I remember that montage they did last year with Randy,,, "For me, For you." lol
- Paul McDonald - (Rocket Man) one of my favorites. I agree with the producer, he needs to bring it, bring some emotion. Hmmm, interesting. I didn't hear any pitchy notes dog.. Unlike the judges, I don't think that Paul really has the ability to hit those high notes. He should be safe.
- Pia Toscano- (Don't let the Sun Go Down) So, another ballad. Ack, did he just say that she needs to be between axl rose and fergie??? FERGIE SUCKS! Those are some crazy high shoes,,, hope she doesn't tip over! I like the choir affect with her voice. Ok, good vocal, of course, but what else does she have? Can she walk in rhythm with the beat,,, have a little gusto or something Pia!!
- Stefano Langone - (Tiny Dancer) maybe it's his eyebrows that are too bouncy when he sings?? But if you close your eyes when he sings he is right on. The crowd is not super jumpy during this performance. He's trying hard to get things going, but the crowd's just not feeling it. I predict bottom 3. It wasn't horrible, but with the level of talent this season, he might be going home. Steven Tyler looks a little sleepy tonight.
- Lauren Alaina -(Candle in the wind) whoa, she pulled her ear plug right before she sang,,, hope it doesn't fluster her. I want her to do well with this one. I'm pullin' for her. It's a little sleepy for me now, dang. It's like when she sings, it never goes anywhere. I want it to build and then, Bam!! It was good though for her to do a ballady song. Man, she is awkward with the questions,,, and yes,, she's in freakin' high school!
- James Durbin- (Saturday Night's Alright) what the?? haha.. the toe touch... He's channeling David Lee Roth! oh my gosh,, the mic stand, the piano standing... OH MY THE FIRE!!!! this is crazy!! I agree with Randy, he does really enjoy his performance. He'll be just fine.
- Thia Megia- (Daniel) She looks really pretty tonight. um,,, bottom 3. This is super boring for me. Why won't any of the judges say anything negative about anyone!!
- Casey Abrams- (Your Song) It's good that the producer made him watch the performance over,, and also the beard! yipee! Oh, I like the staging with all the lights, very pretty. I'm glad it's just him singing without all the faces and rhetoric. This is so tender. Good for him, he'll be safe! Steven Tyler did not make sense with that little 2 note thing.
- Jacob Lusk - (Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Thing) How cool to have him meet Mary J. His voice is buggin' a bit on this song. He's like bawling out there with his face. And he's a side singer. Oh, that kid that I loved who didn't make the top 13 sang this song and it was sooo good. Robbie Rosen....
- Haley Reinhart - (Benny and the Jets) How many times has she growled?? Let's count.. ha. That was a cool note that she hit. Her shoes should not have been nude color... in my opinion. She has a great wailing voice. I'd love to hear her sing some Heart.
My power rankings based on tonight's performances.
- James Durbin
- Lauren Alaina

Top 11 Perform
So I didn't live blog last night,,, I actually just wanted to sit on the couch and watch it. And I must say I really really enjoyed Motown night. I've been struggling with coming up with a bottom 3, and that generally never happens. So here's my short and sweet critiques of the remaining kids.

- Casey Abrams- I just really want to trim his beard. Um, his faces and growling/grunting faces are getting a little too much perhaps? He sang, "I heard it through the Grapevine" and my husband and I laughed because our first exposure to this song was in the 80's when the claymation commercial of the dancing raisins was ruling the tube. Um, this was an alright performance.
- Thia Megia- Her name is a delight to say,,, you can say it all crazy and funny. Almost like it should be on Yo Gabba Gabba or something.. lol. So, she sang "Heatwave",, it was fun to actually see her move around the stage and smile a bit. She does have a great tone to her voice, but I don't think she's screaming 'STAR'... I could see her on Broadway for sure.
- Jacob Lusk - "You're all I need to get by"... So, if ever there was a theme week for Jacob,, this would be the one.. and he did a great job! I really can't handle his vibrato and his faces he pulls when he sings,, and I think he's a little 'hoppy' at times. But, he did nail it,, he was on key, and the boy knows how to sing from the inner depths of his soul.
- Lauren Alaina - "You keep me holdin' on".. this was her best performance so far. She looked pretty and refined,, not like a 'toddler and tiara' contestant. Her makeup has been so heavy and the hair so big,,, it was nice to see her in a classier look. Her singing was good, but I wanted more from her. I wanted some high notes at the end, it built up, but then never went anywhere.
- Stefano Langone- "Hello"... I guess I never really considered this song a motown classic. It's just a good old 80's Lionel Richie love song. Stefano's faces are bugging me. He looks like he's in pain sometimes. And like the judges said, it did look like he was concentrating too much. I can't imagine how hard it is for these kids to perform under stress/pressure/ a week of rehearsal, etc. He might be in trouble.
- Haley Reinhart - "You really got ahold on me"... I thought this was her best too. I'm not sure if she's doing anything to grab fans.... she can sing and she does have confidence, there's just something about her that's not making people vote.
- Scotty McCreery - seriously, every week I just can't believe that voice comes out of that little kid. So here's the celebrity doppleganger of the week. My hubs and I were dying over this.... what do you think? lol. We also were throwing out Howdy Doody, and Woody from toy story,.... He sang "For Once in my life"... it was good. He never sings a bad note.
- Pia Toscano - "All in love is fair"... didn't I mention last week that she needed to start singing some upbeat songs instead of the dead serious ones? Man,,,, she has a GREAT voice and range.. and wonderful control.
- Paul McDonald - "Tracks of my tears".. so when Adam Lambert sang this 2 years ago it was outstanding... I was a little nervous for him to do it,, but he did awesome. Loved that he brought the guitar out. It kinda forces him to not do his chicken dance on stage. He has a crazy raspy voice and his range isn't that big, but I still feel really happy watching and listening to him.
- Naima Adedapo- "Dancin' in the streets."... what the?? she's nuts, I kinda had to look away for a bit. Not sure if the African Dancing needed to be in there, but she is who she is I suppose. She might be in the bottom 3.
- James Durbin - "Living for the city"... man he's got some pipes. I really like his voice, but his stage antics might be a little too, um, what's that word Simon used to say,, indulgent? is that what I'm thinking of? Well, he still rocked it.
- James Durbin
- Pia Toscano
- Paul McDonald
- Jacob Lusk
- Scotty McCreery
- Lauren Alaina
- Thia Megia
- Casey Abrams
- Haley Reinhart
- Stefano Langone
- Naima Adedapo (not that she did bad, it was just a little weird for me)

The Latinas are NOT back baby!
Well 2 of the 3 of my bottom 3 were predicted... But, Karen Rodriguez sang her last ballad last night with the english/espanol flava. The judges were not unanimous,, meaning J LO wanted to save her Puerto Rican connection. I'm glad they didn't save her. But isn't it interesting that 2 of the 3 people they saved 2 weeks ago, (Stefano, Naima) are still safe? That means they have redeemed themselves a bit in the eyes of the voters. Bottom 3 with Hailey, Karen, and Naima were expected. The girls will be voted off one by one until Pia is the last one standing. Oh, and they did not lip synch this week, which was evident when people's mics were off during their verse.
Lee DeWyze performed,, meh, it was alright I suppose. Black Eyed Peas performed,,, meh. I have overdosed on seeing them on every single show in the world.
Next Week's Theme will be - Motown. Jennifer Hudson and Sugarland to perform on results show.

Top 12 Perform
Here we go again! The top 12 perform tonight songs from the year of their birth. I will be live blogging this go around.
1. Naima - 1984. (What's love got to do with it- Tina Turner) May I say again I love watching the producers work their magic. I hope there's no dancing this time. Oooo,, starting off shaky. The first verse was pretty off. Is she trying to be Rihanna? This song is not really doing much for me. Glad J Lo and Randy agreed with me.. Steven Tyler is just going to say everyone is good. Is he afraid to give criticism... perhaps.
2. Paul - 1984. (I guess that's why they call is the blues - Elton John) um, he's doing ok. Is the weird stage walking distracting? perhaps.. I just love his smile though! Let's make him be the next Crest Kid. Randy had some good critiques. It's still so weird that we look to Randy the dogg for the honesty this year. He has a lot of confidence and is not awkward during critiques which I like... comes with age I guess.
3. Thia - 1995. (Colors of the Wind - Vanessa Williams) Well it looks like she's singing another slow song where she just stands there and looks pretty. At least she's smiling this time. Oh, she didn't quite hit that high note when the key changed. That sounded like a casino performance to me. Did not get me out of the seat. She may be in the bottom 3.
4. James Durbin - 1989. Oh my gosh, James was a cute fat baby! (I'll be there for you - Bon Jovi) I love this song! He was not on key at the beginning. No high notes this time,, I was expecting him to go way high on this one... He's still a great performer, but this was not his best performance. Oh yes,, fireworks! hee hee. Love that he said he has some music for the Finale with Aerosmith. Glad Randy said there were a couple of bad notes.
5. Haley - 1990. (I'm your baby tonight - Whitney Houston) She looks exactly the same as when she was a baby. Wow,,, lots of growling tonight. She should be singing ,"I'll be growling tonight",,, haha. She started off not soo hot. wow, 5 kids in a row now with shaky starts. Oh no, she's covered in lipstick! Like her teeth, chin, cheek, I've never seen anything like that. How sad. Yes, Ryan is helping her,, oh my GOSH!!! Ryan just licked his finger and rubbed it on her chin!!!! I'm dying...
6. Stefano - 1989. (If you don't know know me by now- Simply Red) I like Stefano, but his time is limited here. Wow, great last note! That was super high. It was a good vocal.
7. Pia - 1988. (Where do broken hearts go? - Whitney Houston) Ug, not liking this arrangement. Like it's totally awful. She is a VERY good singer though, sheesh. Great control when she goes up. It was up tempo, but she stood in the middle of the stage and only bent her legs a few times. I want a little more movement in her performances. She'll be safe.
8. Scotty - 1993. ( Can I trust you with my heart - Travis Tritt) I predict he will be in the top 2 this season. He never has a bad note. Man he is soooo country! I love it. I hope they grow his hair out a bit more. Scotty even sounded good in his higher register. He has a lot of fans America!
9. Karen - 1989. (Love will lead you back - Taylor Dayne) Is she going for the Jennifer Lopez 'Jenny from the Block' look? What is that arch on top of her head? Well she really hasn't changed up this song any. Oh wait,, here comes the espanol! Um, it was an ok vocal. Bottom 3 perhaps.
10. Casey - 1991. (Smells like Teen spirit - Nirvana) That beard is soo ugly. Oh well, here we go Grungey. Wait, a minute. He's playing his instrument?? How come no one else did? I don't know if America is going to like this song.... it did define my middle school and high school years.... But that was not a good vocal song. People will vote for him cause it's him, but not my favorite performance. His eyes were creepy. My husband mentioned his look reminds him of the dad in Teen wolf.... Anyone think so?

11.Lauren - 1994. (I'm the only one - Melissa Etheridge) Lauren is such a bug. Her mom is Waaaayyyyyyy over the top. What is that pink hat and easy on the eye liner? Good grief. This should be a good song for her to sing. This is a vocal song,,, not Any Man of Mine like last week. Here we go,,, she can sing folks. I don't like her little poses on stage. It's like Toddlers and Tiara's or something... yes? She does have the flu, and you can tell her voice is a little strained.
12. Jacob - 1987. (Alone - Heart) Wow, a lot of Idols have sung this before. Good luck Mr. Lusk. His mom was a crack up. I like what they're doing with his hair. His vibrato is a little warbley for me. Holy Moly, I thought he was gonna tip over when he tried to move off the chair, it was like a seizure!! Augh, I just got nervous and had to look away from screen. Oopsy,,, bad notes all over the place. That's a bad sign. That was a little too much for this gal to handle. Judges?? they liked it... hmmmmm.
My power rankings based soley on tonight's performances:
1. Haley
2. Thia
3. Naima

- Scott McCreery
- James Durbin
- Pia
- Stefano
- Lauren
- Karen
- Paul
- Casey
- Thia
- Jacob
- Haley
- Naima
1. Haley
2. Thia

Ashthon LEAVES
Results were exactly what I predicted. If America didn't vote her into the top 10 in the first place, it would take an INCREDIBLE performance the following week to change their mind. Well, that did not happen so she is taking the ride home. The bottom 3 were all deserving of being there as well - Karen Rodriguez and Haley Reinhart. I hope they both bring it next week.
Well the show went pretty well. Gotta love those group numbers...I especially loved seeing Scotty McCreery singing a little Michael Jackson in his wranglers! I don't know why they have to lip sync though. Gotta admit, I fast forward every Ford commercial. Oh my, that mansion was UNREAL. The front entry way was so big,, it looked like a hotel. I would never want to live like that.
Adam LAMBERT.... Oh my gosh I LOVE HIM! He's lost some weight and looked really good with his new haircut. His voice is soooo pure and real. I don't know how to explain it, but it just really sits well with my ears. I can't wait til his new album coming out this year. P Diddy, well, I liked the piano girl Skylar.... but I fast forwarded it a bit.
Next week's theme is Songs from the Year they were born. Some of those kids were born in 1995..... Oh my gosh, I'm getting old. That was junior/senior year for me. sheesh.

TOP 13
Woo hoo, they're doing the wave! Everything's so shiny and sparkly on my High Def. I've only had this TV for 6 months and Idol is a whole new experience! whoa those are some red lips JLO!
I love when the kids come out all Hollywood'd up. All glam and spiffy. The theme tonight is the Favorites of the Contestants. No instruments?
1. Lauren Alaina from GA- (Shania Twain) So here we go.. Well she should have worn heals with her outfit. Singing Any Man of mine!,,,I'm not liking this song too much but she definitely can sing country music. I agree with Steven Tyler,,it needed to kick some ass, and it just didn't. Poor girl is getting critiqued across the panel, but I agree,, she needed to step it up. Her personality kinda bugs me, she's like a little lamb when she talks, or a baby in a sense.
2. Casey Abrams - (Joe Cocker) Love his personality!! Cracks me up. Singing the Wonder Years song,, What would you do?...Love that he's on the stairs just singing. Out comes the gospel choir, this is awesome. He has such a stage presence, his hair is a mess, his beard is atrocious,, but I love him! Steven Tyler "You are a plethora of passion"... i like that phrase, I may use it in my every day life! ha.
3. Ashthon Jones - (Diana Ross) Starting off a little shaky here folks..She does look gorgeous in that silver dress and makeup. This song is boring,, i'm not a huge Diana fan though. That high note didn't quite make it. Her voice kinda grates in my ears, it's not crystal it's very tingy. Steven Tyler is going to be the judge who only comes up with one sentence. JLO was right on, she does need to sing songs America really knows. She is a good singer,, she's just not a STAR in my book.
4. Paul McDonald- (Ryan Adams) "Come Pick Me Up" This is not starting out good, ok, the chorus picked it up. He is a cookoo dancer around that stage, but he's fun to look at. Love that smile. Um, not sure about this performance, but I have a feeling he'll be safe. Oh gosh, Ryan is trying to do around the stage, he's such a weird guy.
5. Pia Toscano- ( Celine Dion I so called that before she even said it!!!!) Geez they are really pushing the Coke ads. It's all over the screen. Start noticing it viewers, it's hilarious. "All By Myself"... Here we go. She looks beautiful. She has a powerful voice in the high register. It was good, she'll be safe.
6. James Durbin (tourette boy)- (Paul McCartney) "Maybe I'm amazed" This is gonna be good. I can tell. They changed it up to a little rockier sound. He has such a high voice. Wow, here comes the chorus. I can't wait til he gets braces.... man he really is good. Will he ever do a bad p
7. Haley Reinhart - (LeAnn Rimes) "Blue" Whoa, hope her dress is a little higher next week. Too much cleave girl...She has a good little yodely voice. I'm not thinking this was a good choice for her to sing. She needed to come out and slay it. Sounded like I was at the State Fair Grounds. Finally Randy says what I thought,, it was sleepy.
8. Jacob Lusk - (R Kelly) he's your idol? really? I'm sure Jacob will do this 100 million times better than that skinny little white country boy last season. Remember that one? I was pulling my ears off. "I believe I can fly".. Jacob is off a little bit during the buildup as the choir came out. He seems to be yelling the song more than I would like and I don't like the end of this song, never had with the same 4 notes over and over again. But his voice is unreal. How does he hit those high freaking notes?? The judges will never say anything bad about this cat for sure. See, Randy agreed with me... off a bit in the buildup.
9. Thia Megia- (Michael Jackson) She better be good tonight cause she is not high on my list. "Smile"..these young kids are learning all about American History, she didn't know who Charlie Chaplin was. whoa. Ok, she's sounding good. Good control and vibrato. K what? they changed it up now, with a little beat to it. Producers did a fun change to that song- She has such a timid weak personality to me. Like she's about to cry and pee her pants.
10. Stefano Langone- (Stevie Wonder) "Lately" He pulls so many funny faces when he sings, it's kind of distracting. His lower register is boring and dull, but then when he pulls out the chorus and end of the song he wails and brings it! He won't win, but he will be here for awhile.
11. Karen- (Selena) "I could fall in love" Oh no, is J Lo gonna start crying? This is not spectacular. It will only be good at the end I bet. Really boring. She does look really pretty. Told ya, one good measure that is memorable. Man, they need to hire me to judge. ha. Do you think she's gonna pull "The rhythm is gonna get you" out of her back pocket and bring out the old Gloria throwback? lol.
12. Scotty McCreery - (Garth Brooks) "The River" This kid knows who he is, and he won't ever change. I like that. Good grief, it's weird to hear that voice come out of his mouth. It still trips me out. His mic is not loud enough at times. Something weird going on. He might just win this thing folks. Wow, he is sooooo freaking country and sooooo good. It's so not an act. That's just him and I love it! So does the audience apparently. Wonder how his hair is going to change in this new life of his. Should he Keith Urban it? Or put a 5 gallon black hat on it?
13. Naima Adedapo- (Rhianna) "Umbrella"?? Not sure about this. Let's see. Her look is a lot different tonight. Last week she reminded me of Big Bird in her yellow get up. She sounds out of breath and she's not really finishing the phrases. Wow, the rap part... interesting. I didn't see this side of her coming. She needs to do some Lauren Hill this season. Ok. Um, not a fan of the vocals,, for real. She is confident however.Wow, Randy and I are right on this night.
Ok, the thoughts on the night. I really liked how they are showing the producers working with the contestants. Yipee, last year we had Miley Cyrus mentoring them. What a difference a year makes. These producers are super talented.
My Power Rankings based solely on tonight's performances:
1. Casey Abrams
2. Scotty McCreery
3. James Durbin

SEASON 10 BEGINS!
Hello my friends. It's been awhile. Since May I believe, when I decided to give up on a horrific season we called Season 9. Do I remember who won?? Some Lee character,,, did I care? NO!! I didn't even finish blogging the season after the top 3. Lee has sold the least amount of albums,, even less than old what's his gray hair face Taylor Hicks. I think having three white boy guitar playing soulful guys (Kris Allen, David cook) win 2 years in a row was not the best idea.
So as January rolled around this new season, I was excited for a new crop of talent, changes in the show, and for 2 new judges. And may I say, I have LOVED the judges. I think it's something new and refreshing, a breath of fresh air (to coin one of Paula's phrases). Randy actually has a brain for the first time and has taken the leadership role which I have enjoyed watching. Last year with 4 judges it was just too much... Kara wanted an 'artist' and I just got sick of it. Do I miss Simon a little? Yes I do, but only when it was someone singing really sucky during auditions and I would try with my best British accent to come up with something clever and snarky he would say.
Hollywood was of course stressful and wonderful to watch. That crazy crazy eye girl that had a breakdown every 5 minutes was just classic. She was no Tatiana del torro, but it was good TV. A marriage, a flubbed up solo song of Michael Buble??,, and her crazy eyes! Lol. My favorites started to show up and I got excited for our top 24.
After watching each contestant sing their first song I had about 7 guys and 6 girls who I felt deserved to go through. It was interesting to not allow their instruments, since I think that the last 2 seasons have been really heavy on the guitar singer. I won't go through each person, but I was disappointed that the Bette Midler girl didn't go through, I thought she had some pizazz and deserved it. This little 15 year old Thia Megia robbed her blind. Also the beautiful girl who didn't really connect with the song, but had a good voice from the beginning. I thought the OMG guy sang the WRONG song. Good grief, don't try and do Usher and dance for America for your first go 'round. Doesn't anyone give these people some sort of advice. Love the Maggie Mae guy's weird voice and perfectly perfected white teeth/smile. Love me my Santa Claus Bass player, he's got grit and musicality coming out his wazoo! The way he feels the music is just TALENT. And then there's our country boy Scotty,,,, oh brother, that voice,, at his AGE! He could leave the competition tomorrow and sign with any freaking country label and be set for life. And the rocker is starting to rival Adam Lambert's range (but no one will ever EVER be like Adam!) Still love him!
So I will be live reviewing the show tonight and will post my thoughts tomorrow. Put on your seatbelts everyone and get ready for the ride of Season 10. Man, we needed some changes with this show and I think so far they've been just what it needed. Adieu!

Top 3
Thank goodness this season has 3 more episodes left!!! I hate to admit it, but I honestly could care less who wins. It just doesn't matter and it's because this season has been so boring!!! Next season will be a lot different so hopefully it will grab my enthusiasm. Well last night we had contestant choice and judges choice. Let's discuss:
- Casey James sang something I had never heard,,, so you know that's not a good sign when you are supposed to be wowing the audience with something spectacular, and you're hearing it for the first time. He did not bring it. Second song was Daughter's,, John Mayer,, and I didn't even like this one. Casey James, you disappoint me. But maybe once he's off this crazy ship of AI, he'll write his own stuff and be who he is...
- Crystal Bowersox sang Come to my Window,, and did well I thought. Then her second was Maybe I'm amazed by Paul McCartney.. Anyone else think it strange she didn't change the words... She must have sung, Maybe I'm a man.. a dozen times. She could have sang, Maybe I'm the one..oh well. She was hitting some pretty high notes for her during this one.
- Lee Dewyze I think is gonna take it. He really really wants it. He sang a lynrd skynrd and then hallelujah. It wasn't my favorite arrangement with the strings and the choir and such.. I prefer the more subtle approach like Jason Castro did 2 years ago. But it was still his moment and his vocals sounded great. He's got a great radio voice. I wonder what the coronation song will be this year?? I hope it involves hurricanes, mountains, desert heat, or something crazy like,,, crocodile swamps.. ! ha ha.. last year's was sooooo cheesy. There's always some natural catastrophe someone has to overcome to realize they've made it past their challenge.
Well now.. tonight is one of my fav's of the season ,, when they go home for their visits. Then I really must say,,, Lee is safe... not sure about Crystal and Casey.. Well,,,I'm sure Crystal will be safe barring some crazy riff in the universe.. peace out

The Movie Week
Well it's down to the Top 4 and Duet week. Last year they had Jamie Foxx come and mentor and he was great, so they did it again. I thought he did well, but it just seemed like a rerun of last year. Nothing new.... and as crazy as it seems, I can't wait for this season to be over... After watching such a mediocre group for so long, I'm all about starting So You Think You Can Dance 2 weeks early. Something really needs to change with the show for next year.... new judges? - obviously... new themes? - PLEASE!...and Idols with personalities and creativity!! I'm begging.... The new judge will have to be revealed in the next month, since auditions will begin in the summer... Let's Discuss:
My power rankings on last night's performances:
- Lee Dewyze up first singing Kiss from a Rose,,, not his type of song at all, he was a bit flat throughout the number and there was nothing going on with the stage.... I hate to keep bringing up Adam Lambert,, but he freaking knew how to make the stage entertaining....fog, lights, etc....
- Mike Lynche then sang Michael Jackson and I thought he did a good job. Anytime you can bring a gospel choir into the mix, it'll be awesome! Judges didn't like it so much,,,but I also love that song too, I might have been swayed by that.
- Duet of Lee and Crystal,,, taking on Fallen which is the song Kris Allen did last year that really set him apart... I thought to myself, why tackle this if it was such a big moment for the winner last year. Well, I really dug the harmonies and the guitar playing. Had to be one of the best performances of the year. They received accolades for their number,,, they might be your finalists!
- Next up was Casey James singing Mrs. Robinson. Didn't do anything for me. It was slow, basic, and not up to par with where he should be. I am soooo sick of the whole cougar thing RANDY! Give it a break,,, the kid is most annoyed I am sure.
- Crystal performed a Kenny Loggins classic from Caddy Shack and I dug it. She changed up the song quite a bit and really went out and rocked. Does anyone else think that the crazy 'boyfriend' guy wearing the Gosh Awful flag balloon pants is a pseudo boyfriend?? I mean honestly, they are so not a pair I would put together. I thought the night was super slow and needed a good Crystal wake up call.
- Casey's and Mike's duet was awesome too. I loved the guitar playing and harmonies.
My power rankings on last night's performances:
- Crystal
- Mike
- Lee
- Casey

Jazzy Sinatra
I was really entertained last night,, and not by the contestants! I really thought Harry Conick Jr. was one of the best mentors they have ever had. And the thing that was different about the whole episode, was that he was out there on stage performing (well sort of) with them. He was leading the band, arranging the idols song choices, and crackin' jokes. In fact, I think they oughta have more mentors putting in as much work as he did. Harry really is the triple threat with acting, singing, and his musicality.
I'm not a ginormous Sinatra fan,, I mean - I'm American right,, so I have to love the occasional oldie but goodie from old blue eyes. Let's discuss:
I'm not a ginormous Sinatra fan,, I mean - I'm American right,, so I have to love the occasional oldie but goodie from old blue eyes. Let's discuss:
- Aaron Kelly - Am I missing something?? Why do the judges keep giving him praise when he was soooooooo mediocre. He sounded nasally last night and so uncomfortable. He looks like he's about to wet his pants when he stands there with Ryan while he's getting his numbers read. I liked his look a lot better last night though with the new haircut and the whole vest/tie ensemble. Aaron seriously needs like 5-10 years more experience to gain confidence and umph. He does not command the stage and I just don't want to watch him.
- Casey Jones - He should have been soaring after last week's phenomenal performance, but this was just not his best. I liked how Kara said his vibrato sounded like a lamb, cause I was thinking it was sounding a little warbley too. He looked really good though. He'll be in bottom 3.
- Crystal Bowersox looked great. Loved the dress and the hair up. I think because she has been so good week after week, the judges don't like her numbers unless they are 'something to write home about'... She didn't do bad,,, she did waaaaayyy better than Aaron and Casey, but they don't whoop her up like they used to because she isn't giving anything more. I liked her voice a lot and think that the jazz genre wouldn't be that far off with her smooth voice. She is a hippy though, so she'll be a folk/rock singer. She will not be in the bottom.
- Mike Lynche had one of his best last night with "The way you look tonight". I thought it was real and he really does perform well. Simon said he has the best stage presence which I agree with.
- Lee Dewyze is in this to win it, and he might just take it from Crystal. The finals will be Lee and Crystal. He smiled, he played around, he still had his rasp in the jazzed up Sinatra song.

The 6 sing Shania
Well I liked last night's show. It wasn't 15 hours long and the people left are all relatively talented and can sing. Shania is seriously so stinkin' beautiful,,, it's irritating actually. How can her face, skin, teeth, and hair be that perfect. Was she wearing the cutest outfit while she was mentoring them?? Loved the rolled up pants.. anyways .. let's discuss the show:
My Power rankings for last night's performances are:
- First up was Lee DeWyze who I think is finally gaining more confidence up there on the stage. I liked his version a lot! He changed it up just the right amount to make it sound like it was his song. He does pull some weird faces like Simon said, but so did Kris Allen. Kris Allen was a side singer,,, well he probably still is,, ha. Um, he will be safe.
- Old Big Mike was up next and though he did a good job, I still do not jump up and down for him. He'll be in the bottom 3 just mainly because he doesn't have as many fans as the other contestants.
- Casey James had his moment last night. I loved just listening to him sing,, without the guitar solo's and cheesy songs. He really is a talent and I am wondering why we haven't talked more about Casey this season. I hope he's safe.
- Crystal was up next and had the most 'alright' performance of the night. Nothing stood out to me and it was sort of like a regular old coffee house performance. She's still awesome and authentic, but it didn't get me going. I do understand that coming up with 12 performances for the season would be daunting.
- Aaron Kelly had a good night too. He still sounds a bit nasally to me and like his mouth isn't opening up all the way, but his performance was solid.
- Siobhan Magnus is bordering on the irritating/excruciating line for me. She was a little breathy in her performance, maybe cause she did a lap around the whole building while she was singing. Her glory notes were a bit off, but she did try with all her might.
My Power rankings for last night's performances are:
- Casey James
- Lee Dewyze
- Mike Lynche
- Aaron Kelly
- Crystal Bowersox
- Siobhan Magnus

Inspiring
So with 7 kiddo's left in the AI competition, it's coming down to maybe 4 that I can handle anymore. Alicia Keys said the same thing every usual mentor always says,,, "if they can just connect with the song and audience, they'll be golden",, blah blah. Obviously if people connect with the song it's better. Let's Discuss:
- Casey James did a cheesy fleetwood mac that will always remind of of the 92 campaign cause bill Clinton always blasted this at his democratic conventions and the like,,, however with Casey James, I did not mind it. Bad choice for the show and him,,,?,, yes... But I still thought it was a good performance. I want him to kind of bob his head and tap his toes or something, he's always just standing.
- Lee Dewyze was next and sang "The Boxer" - Paul Simon. I enjoyed this, he sang well, and he's singing with more confidence. He'll be safe.
- Tim Urban wasn't as bad as he has been. It was just ayight for me - quoting Randy. Better Days by goo goo dolls, don't know if it fit his voice.
- Oh sweet little Aaron Kelly,,, I have a message for you. Please do not sing power ballads sung by R&B folks in which R. Kelly most powerfully lifts his arms up as if to fly to the high heavens of all that is sleazy and perverted! I hate this song.... HATE. And what's even better,,, it was in Space Jam?!!? What?? Aaron is in bottom for sure, and if by chance he is still here, he needs to stick with country. His voice wasn't bad,,, the song just swallowed him up. I really don't like watching him sing either... he has this little sway thing that is off beat every single time. I'll give him something though, he was never off key and he hit the power note at the end.
- Siobhan is weird. She has just gone down and down each week. And although last night's performance wasn't dreadful, it was just too much. I think she has great vocal potential, and she will probably do just fine in the real world. It takes her 10 times longer than most people to answer a question that Ryan asks of her,,, which makes me mad because my DVR cut off the last number in GLee because Idol ran 4 minutes over. Siobhan might be in the bottom 3 this week. Not going home though. I'm still praying and hoping she can regain what she used to do.
- Mike Lynche sang a Chad Kroeger song and it just didn't work for me, because this song needs that grit and grut in the voice such as Chad's. Hero is a great song, love it. Mike played guitar accoustic, then the strings came in and lights flashed on during the chorus. I was entertained, but just didn't get the fullness of it.
- Crystal looked great in her long evening gown cut low, performed sans instrument, and sang a capella. Three new things to switch up for this week, and they all worked. She was in tune and way connected to that song. She cried at the end and I'm sure it was difficult since she does not come off as a way emotional girly girl. She is obviously the one to beat. She's your Season 9 Idol America.....

2 are gone!
Well I got one of them right at least... I thought Katie would still be riding high from her Let it be performance the week before... But Andrew's time did come up... Wow,,, so tonight we have the inspirational songs with Alicia Keys mentoring. Idol Gives back is this week so there'll be some good performances from bona fide stars out there in Music Land.
Adam Lambert still blows me away. His performance last Wednesday of "whatya want from me" was soooo good. His vocals were right on and his showmanship was stellar..... I loved the lasers... ! Who does lasers anymore?? I loved it... and P-Diddy did strobe lights a few weeks before... It's like I'm going back in time to a Middle School Dance Company Concert....! Do you know what I mean? And on a side note, Kesha performed on SNL with Glow in the Dark Paint... How cheap is that? Ha Ha
I think Adam Lambert is one of the reasons we expect more out of these contestants this year. Every week he switched it up with style, staging, and musical genres.. He was so entertaining,,, we just aren't quite getting it this year. I'm looking forward to this week... And I already predict Aaron Kelly as going home.. Because I think the tween votes are getting split between Tim and Aaron ,,, and Tim is winning the contest.

Top 9 Perform,,, again!
Elvis night sure brought out some good numbers and a few stinkers. The show has improved this week and last week for me thank goodness, it was sorta starting to feel a little drab. Well what did we think of Adam Lambert,,,,,? I thought his advice was fantastic and honest. And the comment between Ryan and Adam about his tongue,,, um, ok,, that was a little too much Ryan.. You could hear Simon in the background with his brittish snooty accent,,, "Ryan,, Ryan".. on with the show.. Let's discuss:
- Crystal Bowersox of course did awesome, she has that gospel rasp and it ain't going anywhere. She will be safe. She's just who she is and she's confident with it.
- Andrew Garcia - I didn't hate it as much as Randy, Kara, and Simon did. It didn't do much for me, especially singing Hound Dog, but I thought he had fun, and he had more grrrr in his voice than he usually does. I think I prefer him with his guitar. He won't last much longer. This could be his week to leave.
- Tim Urban just shocked the pants off this old girl. Where has this kid been for 2 months?? Last week and now this week,,, he did a great job. He didn't end in his head voice thought like Adam suggested.. I think he should have. I think this is his niche,,, It was heartfelt, real, and I loved what he did on the guitar with "I can't help fallin' in love". This was one of my fav's of the night, and I can not believe I just wrote those words. He has more confidence I think,, maybe that's the ticket. I thought Ryan dancing with that dude in the background was very distracting and rude. He should have given the attention to Tim during his performance, Ryan sorta bugged me last night anyways. He seemed a little cocky and over-zealous...did he drink 5 too many Red Bull's before the show? Is he on some of Paula's Crazy Pills?
- Lee DeWyze is just turning into one of my favorites,, I just wish he would perform more. This was his best vocal I thought, but like the judges and Adam said, he needs to smile, have fun, loosen up. A little less conversation was one of my fav's last night as well. I just feel like we don't who Lee is. Entertain man!
- Oh Aaron Kelly... blue suede shoes? There is nothing current or change worthy with this song. Does anyone sing about shoes these days...? Oh yes, J - Lo singing about her louibuittons (spelling botched),, and that song TANKED! Aaron is a little out of his league I think. He tried to switch it up and be playful and light, since he had been singing ballads all the previous weeks. He has no rhythm, can't dance, and looked awkward the whole time. I was embarassed for him, and that's saying something. I think he is in some serious trouble tonight. He is a country singer and will have a nice little start to his career in a few years. He still looks like a kid, needs to go through puberty first, then tackle the industry. Just my opinion.
- Siobhan Magus - yooo hoooo!! Where are you?? She is getting lost out there in AI land. Her lower voice is sorta sleepy and old fashioned, and then she breaks into this awesome belt voice and she is it! I just don't know how she can connect the two. She may be in trouble in the next few weeks if she can't pull out a show stopper. I like the song she sang, Suspicious Minds, just wished she would have done a more current version of it.
- Mike Lynche sang "in the Ghetto" with his accoustic guitar, just sitting down, and he did great. He did not deserve the bottom vote last week and I'm glad they saved him. I'm not a huge fan, but he's better than a few of the others.
- Katie Stevens brought it all out tonight. The attitude as usual is fake and teenagery, with the head jerks and side lip thing going on, but her vocals were good. She had more confidence. This may be rude, but she should not wear tank tops,,, does nothing for her arms! (I know I am mean) She sang well, but I don't know if she has enough fans.
- Casey James sang "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" which I have never heard before. I liked his vocal and thought he pushed it a little more than he has before. I do agree with Kara however,,, he can push it even more. How would he do without the guitar? Maybe he needs to do that.... I think that would be daring and applauded. And he needs to never let his hair down again,, until it's longer.. it's just too poofy and golden. Adam suggested he needed to build up to the main part,,, a little crescendo through the song.. I don't think he did a good job listening. It was slower, softer, mellow the first stance, then all the sudden it was on.. it didn't build.

Big Mike, Adam, and Elvis!!!
Well tonight is the night people.... Glee is back and ADAM LAMBERT is back.... I can't wait to see what he has to say to these sorry bunch of performers this season... OK,, that was a little harsh,, but honestly, was Adam Lambert not the greatest thing to hit Idol since sliced bread?? I can't believe they have never had another Idol back on the show either,,, I mean come on,, does Miley Cyrus know what it feels like to go through this process... Nope.. I'd love to see Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood back too! Can you imagine her on country week? Rumor has it that it will be Shania this year....
Well it's Elvis theme tonight and with 2 going home tomorrow, it is crucial that everyone brings their A Game..So let's talk about that save... I knew that, because of how well the underdogs did last week, a shakeup would be coming and boy was I right. I just couldn't say who was leaving which was odd. I didn't think it would be Big Mike though, I thought Aaron was leaving when it was just those 2 standing up there.
I'm kinda glad they used the save so that it is now out of the way on Results show night...I feel so bad watching those contestants singing for their life and getting the No answer,,, makes me feel depressed....
So stay tuned for my critiques on these 9 kids... and can't wait to see ADAM!!
