Salt Lake City, Utah

Hooty hoot what????

A big 'ol shout out to my home town,,, (yeeaaaahhhh,,, boooooooyyyyy) - spoken like Flava Flav.

I am proud to say that the SLC is representin' yo. Look at them shine, look at them being all happy, in fact,,,,, 'shiny happy people holding hands' sung by R.E.M. is playing of course. How lame, yes the people of SL are happy I suppose, and we all go around say 'golly gee whitakers Mr. Johnson!' And to make the whole stereotype even better, let's throw in an Osmond or 50 to boost the ratings right at the bat.

I must say I like the Osmonds, grew up listening to the Christmas Album and watching my bro. and sis. do a little show like Donny and Marie's. Here's to me and me not knowing that this son of Allen has M.S. How horrible! I can't believe he has even been in a wheelchair. He sang pretty well, great confidence of course, looks like a pro. Could this be his shot at fame? Rumor has it he is in the top 50 or something. Having the name Osmond on the show definitely can't hurt the ratings. I'm sure he'll do great.

The chic with the tattoos. Now this should be interesting. She's from my actual hometown, Sandy, so shout out there, and she has a very unusual style. Simon really liked her and how she was unique and knew who she was. Can't remember her name but it was a weird last name. I bet she'll go far because the judges like to have a wide variety in the top 12. The polynesian girl from Hurricane,, pronounced Hur-i-cun, was pretty good too. What the? There's no way she's 16, check the birth certificate, she looked 35 to me. Very pretty voice.

The Class President of Riverton is just your all American boy with spiky hair. If he makes it in the top crew he'll be needing some help with the image. But, he did have an interesting voice and strong confidence. Lastly, I will discuss the blonde hippie child. She's been through a lot with the death of both her parents, she's very cute, and she has an interesting style. Not the best vocals, but something is interesting about her. I never thought Brooke White from last year had the bestest vocals either, but there was some serious soul to her. So we shall see how the troops hold up in Hollywood when the real pressure starts cooking the amateurs. Tomorrow is New York and another city - can't remember now, so chat with you all tomorrow.

And in closing, please remember the famous quote by the sports broadcaster in his opinions of Utah's loud and crazy Jazz fans........"Let's be honest. They're Mormon. And they're in Salt Lake. And there's nothing else there," he said. "You've got to smile and be happy all the time. This might be one opportunity for fans to get vicious."

I love it!

We did enjoy the show last night. It's always fun to catch a glimpse of my hometown. Love the mountains! There is some talent out there. I did like the Osmond dude--his MS story was pretty amazing. I can't believe he and his Dad have it. The tattoo armed girl--she's pretty funky and definitely has a different style. We'll have to see what she looks like in Hollywood. Not sure about the blonde chick who lost both parents. I like her upbeat personality, but I thought she sang flat. And the Samoan chick from Huricane, she really did look so much older than 16. That's bizarre. She had a nice voice. WE'll be watching tonight. I'm sure it'll be a contrast from NYC to SLC last night. And what was with the bunny dude? The kid actually had a nice voice. He would have done better without the whole bunny thing.

I agree...I felt bad for the bunny guy. I think he could've made it to Hollywood without all the theatrics.

SLC was fun. I loved seeing my mountains and all of the wholesome, happy people. Utah was represented very well, true to the people there.

I hope the Osmond guy makes it to the top 24. He was great! I didn't like the homeless girl at all. Beautiful, yes, but didn't have a voice to save herself. I would highly doubt she's make it to the top, but we'll see.

I was suprised that only 13 made it through, there. I thought that sounded low. Ry said that it will be interesting how many Utahns make it to the top. I agree. Do they put that into consideration when they put them through? How many from each state? I'd never thought of it until now.

We had fun watching the SLC show. Some of the young women at Kristin's party knew some people that were on or had friends who were friends, etc.

If you want to read the Deseret News take on the morning after check the link at:

BTW, dude, lose the bunny friend. Duh, at some point you just have to get serious, do the show and forget the silliness (security blanket).

I liked the Samoan girl from Huricane, although if her parents left Samoa so they could have more opportunities and get noticed, then why are they living in Huricane?

I loved the Osmond guy and I thought the judges comments to him were kind of stupid saying he sounded Like a group singer. I thought he was one of the best ones and definitely stood out as a soloist. So far I've liked most of the people they put through, with the exception of three or four. It's going to be an AMAZING season!

Janelle, I love you and your Idol forum!! haha, OK I loved the sl episode last night. I hope the MILF with the arm tattoo goes far, and the sad pretty hippie orphan.

Ha Ha, k I love that you started an Idol blog! :) I really liked the girl with tatoos. Her name is Meagan Corkery, maiden name Knudsen. She is from T ville baby! :) She now lives in Sandy but she went to Taylorsville as did her ex husband. Nothing to do with the fact that I know her, I just really like her style. She reminded me of the girl from "Elf" do you know what I am talking about?
